Are You Where You Want to Be at 50?
As we navigate midlife, itās important to consider what we truly want out of the second half of life, especially if weāre feeling overwhelmed by perimenopausal changes, physically and emotionally. Thatās why itās essential to take the action required to adapt to our new physiology.
Where do you currently find yourself on this journeyā¦? How do you feel? Whatās the gap between where you are now and where you want to be?
This phase of life can be challenging, but it also has the potential for empowerment and positive change. As our children grow and some of the responsibilities we carry shift, this phase becomes a precious opportunity for us to focus on our own health and well-being. Prioritising ourselves is not selfish; itās essential for preventing illness and enjoying the golden years with our kids and grandkids.
When we think about navigating perimenopausal symptoms, itās common to focus on nutrition and movement only. While these are important, theyāre just two pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. We must also prioritise sleep, rest, happiness and self-fulfillment - elements that often get sidelined amid the chaos of daily life when caring for our own parents as well as our children.
As I approach 50, four years into perimenopause and five years of dedicated research into womenās hormone health, I am finally in a place I want to be! I couldnāt see that at the start of perimenopause, as I experienced debilitating exhaustion, rapid weight gain, anxiety that disrupted sleep and brain fog that effects performance. Yet, mastering these challenges has become my passion, allowing me to support others on their menopause journey.
