You are excellent at your job.

And you are exhausted.

Not because you're doing it wrong. But because no one told you that carrying this much - professionally, personally, quietly - has a cost. And your body has been keeping score.

I was recently featured in Stylist magazine talking about exactly this -the six signs your mental load is showing up in your body. The depletion that rest doesn't fix. The bugs you keep catching. The feeling that you're running on something finer and finer. So many women recognised themselves in that piece, and it stayed with me.

Because awareness is only the beginning.

The real question is - how do you navigate this within the life you actually have? Without doing less. Without lowering your standards. Without giving anything else up.

That's exactly what I work on with women in my one-to-one wellbeing mentorship - understanding your stress response, learning to work with your nervous system, and building a way of living and working that doesn't cost you everything.

It's TIME TO TALK!! 🗣

Behind professional titles and polished smiles, many of us are navigating stress, self-doubt, and burnout - especially within dentistry and other high-pressure careers.

As a South Asian immigrant, woman, and a dental professional featured on BBC Radio London this week, it felt like representation for many of us who quietly carry pressure while appearing “fine” on the outside. It highlighted how important it is to normalise conversations about wellbeing. Mental health is still a taboo topic in many of our communities, yet silence rarely leads to support.

Strength is not pretending everything is fine.

Strength is allowing honest conversation.

And this Time to Talk day I want to invite these conversations.

Are you tying your self-worth to your clinical work?🤔
Because if you are… it’s only a matter of time before it breaks you.🙆🏻‍♀️

In dentistry, failure isn’t optional- it’s inevitable.
Crowns fracture. Implants don’t integrate. Tiny fillings become root canals. Dentures come back for 11 adjustments.
It happens to every single one of us.🙃

But when you believe your value = your clinical outcomes?
Suddenly every complication becomes:
“What’s wrong with me?”
“I’ve been doing this for years- why can’t I get it right?”

As we start December the pressure to FINISH STRONG is REAL!!🙆🏻‍♀️

We measure our success in numbers.

But here’s the truth we don’t say out loud…👇🏼

You can be clinically exceptional and still feel empty.
You can stack up qualifications, courses, and cases - and still struggle with your health, your peace, your relationships, your sense of self.

So pause for a moment and ask yourself:🤔

What are you really striving for?
A longer list of patients?
Or a life that feels meaningful beyond the surgery?

Because one day, nobody will remember how many crowns you prepped.
But they will remember your presence, your kindness, your energy, your joy.
They will remember the human behind the mask- not the numbers.

And dentistry feels very different when the things you chase… actually nourish you.

Clinical excellence ABSOLUTELY matters.
But SO DOES having a life that exists outside your surgery.

So as you begin December don't forget to reflect on- what trophy room are you building?

How many times has that voice shown up in your head after a long day in clinic?🤔

Maybe after a tricky patient, a failed treatment, or just one of those exhausting days that leaves you questioning everything.🙆🏻‍♀️

But here’s the THRUTH- that harsh inner critic isn’t you.
It’s your brain doing what it was designed to do: protect you from failure and rejection.

Evolution wired our minds to spot threats- but in dentistry, the “threat” isn’t a tiger anymore… it’s a small mistake, a difficult patient, or a comparison with a colleague. 🧠

✨ The trick? Step back and look at the bigger picture.
When you zoom out, you’ll see one imperfect moment doesn’t define your worth or your skill.

💡 Try this today:
Pause and ask yourself-
“Is this thought fact… or just my brain trying to keep me safe?”
