Joining us at Kidz to Adultz North is Hannah Payton, the UK's first Zumba instructor with Down's Syndrome.

Hannah gained her qualification in October 2021 and has since ran sessions for mainstream and SND groups.

Hannah will be running her Zumba class at 1:00pm in the Fun Zone 💃

🥇STOP GIVING OUT ATTENDANCE AWARDS🥇
School attendance awards further widen the gap between those who are able and those who aren’t able.

They’re not inclusive.

Children who aren’t able to attend never achieve success in this area. Which makes them feel less than and it really impacts their self esteem and self efficacy.

They begin to think “what’s the point” and often further disengage.

Children also feel that they’re letting their class down when there are inter-class competitions relating to attendance.

There are other ways to praise children and build their self esteem… But this one gets a big ‘NO’ from us!
