Can ovarian rejuvenation help with pregnancy? What to consider

Ovarian rejuvenation is an emerging area in reproductive medicine that some people explore in hopes of improving ovarian function and increasing chances of pregnancy. The idea is to support egg quality, ovarian stamina, or hormonal balance, but it isn’t a guaranteed solution and results can vary significantly from person to person.

If you’re evaluating this option, it’s important to consider who might be a candidate, what the treatment involves, and the realistic expectations you should maintain. Candidates are typically individuals with diminished ovarian reserve or age-related fertility concerns, but suitability depends on many factors including overall health and reproductive goals. Treatment approaches vary and may include medical therapies, lifestyle modifications, or specialised procedures, each carrying different risks, benefits and levels of evidence. It’s essential to have ongoing monitoring and a clear plan with a fertility specialist.

You may also want to explore conventional fertility options such as timed in*******se, IUI, or IVF as alternatives or complements, depending on your situation.

The next steps are to consult with a qualified fertility specialist who can review your ovarian reserve (AMH, age, and other factors) and help you decide on a personalised plan.

What is Genitourinary Syndrome of the Menopause (GSM) and why it matters

Menopause brings many changes, and GSM is a common but often overlooked part of that transition. GSM refers to the group of symptoms caused by shrinking oestrogen levels that affect the ge***al and urinary areas. Understanding GSM can help you seek relief, improve comfort and protect your quality of life.

GSM covers vaginal dryness, thinning of the vaginal walls, itching, irritation, burning, and increased urinary symptoms like urgency or pain during urination. It happens because lower oestrogen levels lead to thinning and drying of tissues in the genitourinary tract, making everything more sensitive. This can impact daily life, including sexual health, sleep and daytime functioning, but effective treatments are available.

Management options include lubricants and moisturisers for symptom relief, pelvic floor exercises, and medical treatments such as local oestrogen therapy or non-hormonal options tailored to your health needs. If symptoms are persistent, worsen, or affect your wellbeing, consult your healthcare provider for an evaluation and personalised plan. GSM is common and manageable, and talking openly with a clinician can lead to better comfort and confidence.

Can intermittent fasting help PCOS? Exploring the evidence

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) affects many aspects of health, from hormones to metabolism. Intermittent fasting (IF) has sparked interest as a potential tool, but what does the science say, and how might it fit into a PCOS management plan?

Some studies suggest IF can influence female hormone balance in ways that may support metabolic health for some people with PCOS. Results can vary, and individual responses differ. Although not a remedy IF may also help with weight management and insulin sensitivity for certain individuals, which can be relevant for PCOS symptoms.

It’s important to remember that PCOS is not one-size-fits-all. Any dietary change, including IF, should be discussed with a healthcare provider, especially for those with diabetes, pregnancy planning, or other medical conditions. A healthcare team can tailor recommendations and ensure you’re screening for underlying issues and getting appropriate care.

If you’re considering IF, start with a sustainable approach, focus on nutrient-dense foods, maintain regular meals during eating windows and monitor how you feel.

Caesarean Awareness month – April 2026: understanding, support and safe recovery

Caesarean births happen for many reasons, and each woman’s story is unique. Education and empathy make a difference a difference and this is what Caesarean Awareness Month set out to do.

Health isn’t one-size-fits-all: Pelvic health, abdominal recovery and mental wellbeing all matter in the weeks and months after surgery. Gentle activity, gradual resumption of routines and good sleep and diet are all recommended.

However, if you notice persistent pain, fever, heavy bleeding, or new urinary symptoms, it’s important to reach out to your maternity team or healthcare professional promptly.

Don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right. Further reading and official references see the International Caesarean Awareness Month overview: https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/international-cesarean-awareness-month/

The journey of an embryo through IVF

Understanding the journey begins at conception, when a fertilised egg begins to divide and travel toward implantation in the uterus. This process sets the foundation for the development of the embryo and ultimately, a pregnancy.

For many people, natural conception works well, but others may seek fertility treatment to support or achieve a pregnancy. Fertility treatments can include a range of approaches, from medications that stimulate ovulation to assisted reproductive technologies like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF). Each journey is deeply personal and depends on individual medical history, fertility goals and emotional wellbeing.

This document has been designed to give you some insight into what happens between the collection of your s***m and eggs and your embryo transfer. It’s a chance for you to see your treatment cycle through the eyes of your embryologist: https://www.cuh.nhs.uk/patient-information/laboratory-guide-for-patients/

Inherited thrombotic risks in pregnancy

Inherited thrombotic risks in pregnancy refer to genetic factors that can increase the likelihood of developing blood clots during pregnancy, which can impact both the mother and baby. Common inherited conditions include factor V Leiden, prothrombin gene mutation, and deficiencies in natural anticoagulants. While many pregnant people with these conditions have healthy pregnancies, certain factors such as a history of blood clots, obesity, immobility, or caesarean delivery can elevate risk. Appropriate planning with your healthcare team is key, and this may involve risk assessment, tailored monitoring and in some cases, preventive measures like low-dose aspirin or anticoagulants, depending on individual risk.

Can s***m fragmentation contribute to RSA (Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion)

S***m DNA fragmentation refers to breaks in s***m DNA. While RSA (three or more consecutive pregnancy losses) has many causes, some studies link high fragmentation to poorer embryo quality and higher early pregnancy loss. But fragmentation isn’t the sole culprit as RSA can have many causes involving maternal health, uterine environment and embryo factors too.

However, s***m DNA integrity may influence embryo development and early pregnancy outcomes in some cases. A high fragmentation index doesn’t guarantee RSA; context matters, and results should be discussed with a fertility specialist.

If RSA is a concern, a partner-focused evaluation can help guide testing and management options, including lifestyle changes and targeted therapies.

Gynaecare offers a recurrent miscarriage health package. To find out what it includes and to book an appointment visit https://gynaecare.uk.com/product/self-pay-packages/recurrent-miscarriage-testing/

What is Mayor Rokitansky Kuster Hauser syndrome (MRKH)?

MRKH stands for Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser syndrome is a rare conge***al condition that affects the development of the female reproductive system. People with MRKH are typically born with normal external female ge***alia but they have an underdeveloped or absent uterus and upper vaginal canal. This means that while puberty may proceed normally in terms of secondary sexual characteristics like breasts and hips, these individuals may have infertility related to uterine absence and may require sensitive, personalised medical guidance for options related to sexual health and family planning.

MRKH occurs during foetal development and its exact causes aren’t fully understood. It’s usually identified during teenage years when menstrual periods are absent, prompting further investigation through medical history, physical exams and imaging.

Beyond absent periods, some people may experience normal sexual function and sensation, while others might have a shorter vaginal canal or other related reproductive tract differences. Emotional and psychological support is often an important part of care.

Multidisciplinary teams including gynaecologists, endocrinologists, psychologists and fertility specialists can help explore options such as vaginal dilation therapy, surgical methods to create a neovagina if needed, and family planning choices that align with personal goals.
