Savoury breakfasts / brunches are an easy way to stay on top of your daily sugar consumption.
Wholemeal bread, tomatoes, avocado and dark green vegetables are good sources of fibre, helpful for both your gut microbiome and digestion (unless you’re sensitive to fibre).
Add some protein such as an egg, salmon or ham and you have a complete meal that’s not only easy to prepare, but will also sustain your energy for several hours.
Check the appetisers and antipasti from Odysea Limited, they are easy additions to brunches, and delicious to boot. Like the semi-dried datterini tomatoes here.

Did you know caffeine stimulates the production of the stress hormone cortisol?

When we drink coffee or black tea, our sympathetic nervous systems get activated to provide us with the energy we need to fight or flight. This means our blood sugar levels increase.

So what?

Well, when we eat fast-release carbs, or drink caffeinated drinks, our blood sugar levels peak. The hormone insulin is released and rapidly brings sugar levels down. So much that they dip quickly, perhaps even hitting the bottom of the healthy blood sugar range. We may then feel tired, shaky, moody, weak, dizzy, sometimes even confused.

This leaves us craving - and reaching for fast-release carbs or caffeinated drink. And so does the rollercoaster go on.

If you're trying to get off the sugar rollercoaster, I'd recommend you choose herbal teas and other non-caffeinated drinks. My bet is you won't notice the difference in the taste that much.

My favourite decaf coffee is Union Roasted. What's yours?

💛 Look after your blood sugar levels, look after yourselves! 💛

It's the end of the parsnip season; they're now less starchy than in winter, but they're still an amazingly satisfying root vegetable that tastes good almost on its own, for example mashed with a bit of cream or butter. In this soup recipe, the curry, the lemon juice and chillies make it a surprisingly fresh dish, with a subtle punch.
Bon appétit !

I'm starting to add on my website simple, yet nutritious and yummy recipes. It's a new territory to me, but I'm enjoying the process of testing and writing them. I hope you'd like to try my first recipe at some point, and I look very much forward to your feedback.

This nourishing and tasty smoothie is a quick win to get a good amount of dietary fibre, promoting gut health. You’ll also reap the anti-inflammatory benefits of ginger, turmeric, flaxseed oil or h**p seed oil, and cinnamon.
