Did you know that chia seeds are packed with nutrients? 🤩

Not only are they high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, but they also contain antioxidants and essential minerals like calcium and manganese.

According to a study published in the Journal of Functional Foods, chia seeds may also help improve cardiovascular health, lower blood sugar levels, and aid in weight management. 🙌

Add a tablespoon of these little powerhouses to your morning smoothie or yogurt for an extra boost of nutrition.

Tina Leverton, 63: Ballet Dancer

Tina was 62 when she bought her first pair of ballet shoes.

A few weeks earlier, Leverton had taken the first ballet class of her life, after an advert in a freesheet caught her eye. It showed older women at the barre.

At first, a grand plié – lowering to the floor with bent knees – was out of the question. “I’d bend down and couldn’t get up again,” Leverton says, laughing. It has taken three months to master the pirouette, while leaping and landing on one foot presented “a psychological barrier”. 💪

“I love the struggle, the challenge, learning something new. When I get it, I feel absolutely elated,” she says. “People in their 60s have a lot of self-limiting beliefs: ‘I can’t do it,’ ‘I’m not good enough.’ And maybe they’re not good enough. But it doesn’t matter,” she says.

What is standing in your way of trying something new?

Keep reinventing yourself. If you think you are done with this chapter, write another one.

If you see it that way, then there's little reason to fear growing older - because what's bad about more time to explore all the possibilities around you?

So as we head into the new year, here's a mantra to remember: Stop dreading ageing. Start making plans. 💥

The short answer is that it's not quite that simple. While research has suggested that artificial sweeteners may help with weight loss in the short term, the long-term effects are still not well understood.

Here's the thing: artificial sweeteners are often much sweeter than regular sugar, which means that they can help to satisfy our cravings for something sweet without all the calories.

However, some studies have suggested that they may actually have the opposite effect on our bodies. For example, they may interfere with our ability to regulate our caloric intake, leading us to eat more overall.

Additionally, some artificial sweeteners have been linked to other potential health concerns, such as an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases.

So, while they may seem like a good option for weight loss, it's important to be cautious and to always talk to your doctor before making any major changes to your diet. 🤔

Isn't it crazy how society has so many opinions about what someone can and cannot do after a certain age?

You are told that you are past your prime in your 40s, over the hill in your 50s, and one step away from a broken hip in your 60s. 😬

They insist that with age must follow physical and emotional decline, even as you see 70 year olds rocking thriving and vibrant lives.

So, defy the boxes they put you in. Live life on your own terms. Do the things you love, wear the clothes you want, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Go on. We dare you 💪

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season from Simba Health 🎉 🎄

In all the bustle of turkey carving and present wrapping, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Make sure you are not forgetting to just stay present in the moment and spend quality time with your loved ones!

Building strong social connections and surrounding yourself with a support system (yes, dogs count) can help you lower your mortality risk ...and bring joy into your life, most importantly 😉

Sending you all our love 💚

How about we try something different instead?

The holidays can be a stressful and overwhelming time, with all the extra events, social obligations, and pressure to be joyful.

That's why as the holiday season approaches, it's important to remember to take care of ourselves and prioritize our mental health. 🧠

Here are some simple ways you can look after your mental wellbeing over the next few days. 👇

If you're not already incorporating stretching into your fitness routine, here are a few reasons why it's worth adding:

🙌 Improved flexibility: Stretching can help increase the range of motion in your joints, making it easier to move and perform everyday activities.

💪 Reduced risk of injury: Stretching can help improve your balance and coordination, which can in turn reduce the risk of falls and other accidents.

🌟 Improved circulation: Stretching can help improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to your muscles, which can help you feel more energized. 🌟

So next time you're feeling a little stiff or tense, try incorporating some stretches into your routine. Your body (and mind) will thank you!

The festive season can be a time when our health and wellness goals can take a backseat. But it doesn't have to be that way! Here are some tips for staying healthy during the holidays.

🎄Eat mindfully: stop when you're satisfied, rather than eating until you're stuffed.

🎅🏻 Stay active: even just a few minutes of exercise each day can help to boost your mood and maintain your overall health.

🤶Set your boundaries: holidays can be a stressful time so take care of yourself, and prioritise your own needs.

Most importantly, the holidays are about enjoying time with the people you love, not about depriving yourself. So don't be too hard on yourself, and give yourself permission to be imperfect.

Johanna Quaas, 96 : Gymnast

Nearly 11 years ago, the sprightly was recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest gymnast.

Now 96, she's still a tour de force, landing flips on parallel bars and nailing handstands among other impressive moves.

Quaas’s secret formula: her green diet, moderation (eat till full, then stop), and plenty of exercise (gymnastics three or four days a week, with an occasional sauna and a dip in the pool). Oh, and all of it covered by a sunny disposition.

“If you are fit, it is easier to master life,” Quaas said. “I do gymnastics to avoid being susceptible to falls and that is a good preventive tool.”
