Do you find yourself being either passive or aggressive in situations or events? Do you avoid speaking for fear of how it will be received?

Do you find yourself wishing you had said something?

If you find it difficult to be assertive in your life because it will upset someone, because you avoid confrontation or that you sometimes bottle things up instead of openly expressing how you feel, you are not alone.

What does being assertive mean?

* You can tell someone something straight even when you know they will disagree with it

* You can tell someone something even when you know if might upset or anger them

* You can calmly, confidently and firmly speak your truth, express how you feel, make a complaint, express what you'd like in a situation

* Being honest about how you feel

Discover how Hypnotherapy and Assertiveness Training can leave you feeling more at ease with yourself; discover a whole new world of feeling and self-expression.

You will learn how to:
1) Develop a greater sense of confidence and certainty in what you want to say. When confident, it becomes easier to convey your message

2) Develop a new blueprint through making being assertive in situations feel more familiar to you; breaking old patterns/habits of being unassertive

3) Plan ahead - think through and rehearse with the Hypnotherapist the possible reactions, emotions and objections someone may have to what you may say and how you can remain calm, confident and assertive.

Therapeutic Hypnosis is not what you may have watched on your TV screens (otherwise known as Stage Hypnosis).

Hypnosis as a form of therapy is not new; it’s been around for an estimated 4000 years, and recognised by the American Medical Association (AMA) since 1958. It has been classified as having a definitive application throughout the various medical fields and is used as a medical practice/intervention.

Hypnosis as a branch of therapy is considered to work faster than traditional talk therapy – studies show that the work done in 6 hypnotherapy sessions is similar to that done in 600 traditional talk therapy sessions!

Even with its amazing effectiveness, and this incredible article published by the American Journal of Medicine in March 2020 stating that Hypnosis is the most effective treatment yet to prescribe (https://www.amjmed.com/article/S0002-9343(20)30946-3/fulltext), there are common misconceptions attached to Hypnosis being used as a form of therapy or mind control - this is not the case.

Because of its recognition within the AMA, and reports in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), Hypnosis appears within the medical curricula at big league schools, such as Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford.

With Hypnosis, the subconscious mind is allowed to take on a change and the mind-body response to the change can be set in stone; this is what helps with achieving lasting results.

It is important that the hypnotherapist you choose to see is a trained, qualified professional with certification.

Delighted to see Shaanti Wellness mentioned for its Stop Smoking Programme in The Times newspaper this weekend 😊

We would like to express our gratitude for bringing awareness to an addiction that impacts the quality of life for people on a daily basis. We recognise how real this is through the work we do. We have seen many battle with the ability to quit smoking through trying various approaches.

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses Hypnosis and Cognitive Behavioural techniques combined to encourage positive change. The combined approach makes it the most psychological therapy on the market today.

Depending on your reasons for seeking Hypnotherapy, you may need just one session to bring about positive change (as is the case for Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy). You'll also be taught self-Hypnosis techniques so that you are able to use the technique in other areas of your life.

Hypnosis helps you gain control over undesired behaviours, change belief systems or thinking patterns that hold you back, or to find a better ways of coping with an issue or condition. It's important to know, during Hypnosis you don't lose control over your behavior.

Some areas Hypnotherapy be used:-

• Mental health - Hypnosis can help treat symptoms of Anxiety, Fears, Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress and Social Anxiety.

• Behaviour change - Insomnia, Smoking, and Weight Loss/Overeating. This can also include being Assertive at work or in relationships, setting boundaries, or just simply being more confident.

• Pain control - Hypnosis may help with pain due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Fibromyalgia, Joint Problems, Dental Procedures, Physical Aches and Headaches.

• Hot flushes - Hypnosis may relieve symptoms of hot flushes associated with Menopause.

Do you fume when someone says something you don’t like or when cut off in traffic? Or perhaps when your child refuses to co-operate. It’s important to remember that anger is a normal emotion — however, we must learn to deal with it in a positive way. When not dealt with, it can take a toll on your health, relationships and career.

Some of the different types of Anger can include:

• Volatile anger - leads to anger outbursts that scare loved ones
• Judgmental anger - steeped in resentment and directed at others
• Overwhelmed anger - when a person feels there is too much to handle
• Self-inflicted anger - directed inwards and can cause mental damage
• Passive anger - often expressed passively and damages relationships
• Chronic anger - this goes on all the time and can cause physical and mental health problems.

The first step is acknowledging that you have a problem. The second is finding the cause of your anger. The third is finding a way to stop the switch that flicks to anger.
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy help with steps two and three.

Anger & Hypnotherapy & Hypnosis:
The first thing the Hypnotherapist will do is help you understand the underlying cause of your anger. We usually find that past experiences play a part in anger control problems, as your past shapes your current belief system and behaviour.

So while you believe something or someone is causing your anger, it could just be stemming from you. Once we get to the root cause, we work to change this.

During your sessions, work will take place on both subconscious and conscious levels to help you change your negative thought processes. This may involve suggestions to control your anger and relaxation techniques.

The goal is to change how you react to things that trigger your anger. Instead of becoming angry when these triggers occur, you should feel relaxed and calm. When you're able to be calmer in a stressful situation, you can think in a more clear way and react appropriately and differently.

Hypnotherapy for anger management will also help with some of your anger symptoms. For example, it can help with feelings of depression, stress or anxiety.

How many sessions you'll need of this therapy will depend on your circumstances.

Our mind can play tricks on us all day, which prevents us from being able to see and assess situations clearly.

This may cause us to:
• Have a need for constant validation
• Hold onto the past
• Have a fear of uncertainty
• Project our insecurities onto others
• Hold self-limiting beliefs

To help clear this brain fog, we can:
• Journal our thoughts and come back to them

• Become aware of limiting beliefs that may be holding you back

• Acknowledge and celebrate when you achieve something during the day, big or small. Celebrate the victory

How Can Hypnotherapy Help Manage Stress?

Hypnosis can be used for Stress Management in two ways. First, the emphasis on getting into a deeply relaxed state, helps fight tension and triggers your relaxation response. Secondly, Hypnosis can also help achieve various healthy lifestyle changes that can reduce the amount of stress you encounter in your life.

Hypnotherapy works by effecting your sub-conscious mind (where your thoughts, belief-systems, emotions reside), so you can be hypnostised to keep to an exercise program, respond to a situation in a different way, set boundaries at work, and so on.

The Hypnotherapist will identify what triggers stress responses in the mind and body; noting the physical and emotional symptoms that lead to the onset of stress. These can include mental images, inner dialogue, looping thoughts, and physical sensations.

Through Hypnotherapy, CBT and Hypnosis, the Hypnothetapist will work on achieving your desired outcome from the treatment.

Hypnotherapy is a type of mind-body intervention in which Hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility to resolve a medical or psychological disorder or concern. It works on reprogramming the subconscious; the part of the brain we hold trauma, belief systems, values, feelings. The work of Hypnosis is to rewire the mindset.

3 Myths About Hypnosis:

1) You can be Hypnotised against your will - this is NOT true. You are always in control and the purpose of the Hypnotherapy is to work toward your goals, which are agreed between Hypnotherapist and you as the customer in the first session.

2) You can get stuck in Hypnosis / in a trance - this is NOT true. You are in the same state as when you fall asleep, which you naturally come out of. You cannot and do not get stuck in a Hypnotised state.

3) Your Hypnotist makes you see things - this is NOT true. You are the guide of your experience and what you see. The Hypnotherapist will only guide you into a relaxed state for you to be able to see or feel things. You are the guide of the experience.

Unhealed trauma can present itself in many ways, some examples here of how it may appear.

By self-reflecting an event or experience, you can begin to acknowledge how trauma may be presenting itself in your life.

We often forget that trauma can impact cognitive ability making conversations, conflict, feelings and more, difficult to process.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy can help heal trauma through working with the subconscious mind; the part we store feelings, belief systems, thoughts, emotions. Through working on and embedding a change in this part of the brain, we can change belief systems, behaviours, thoughts and feelings.

Hypnosis allows the body to enter a deep state of relaxation and thereby allows access to the subconscious (where trauma memories and its effects are stored).
