Reflecting on our last trips of 2025! ✨
At the end of last month, we visited Kingston Market House to see the RBK Library exhibition that David and Chris had worked so hard on this year. Previously run by the Kingston Heritage Society, the exhibition showcased the incredible shields and daggers created by Chris and David, which were later used in the historical parade across Kingston Bridge 🗡️🛡️
The exhibition featured artwork and a listening station with real community stories... Chris listened to a story about accessibility improvements, while others reflected on how, since COVID, many young people hope to be more eco-friendly, with ideas like allotments to support the environment🌱. We also watched a short film in which David recognised the Market House building and recalled his previous work with the RBK Library. We learned that the building, circa 1839, had been closed for three years before recently reopening. Everything we saw will now be archived for future generations, preserving Kingston’s rich heritage.
Our final festive trip of the year took us to Squires Garden Centre in Twickenham with Janet, Brenda and Anna 🎄. We had a wonderful time exploring the displays, touching different Christmas decorations, admiring the lights, breathing in the scent of fresh flowers, and seeing poinsettias and Christmas trees in all shapes, sizes and colours.
The smiles said it all, the residents were fully engaged, enjoying the lights and decorations. Brenda laughed at the quirky Christmas items, especially the plush teddies, and loved the Nutcracker, laughing as it opened and closed its mouth and Janet enjoyed watching the children around the centre as we sat among the displays, taking in the bright lights and festive atmosphere!🎄🥰
Both trips were a perfect way to round off our outings for 2025 and we are already looking forward to the journeys, experiences and memories we’ll make together in the new year ✨💜
