Is mould making you sick?

Many people think mould exposure just causes a stuffy nose or mild allergies, but the reality is far more complex.

👉 Mould produces spores, fragments, and mycotoxins.
Spores can trigger allergic reactions ranging from sneezing to severe asthma.
Fragments (500x more common than spores) are highly inflammatory and can stay in the lungs.
Mycotoxins are tiny, lipophilic compounds that slip past your body’s defences, enter circulation, and even cross the blood–brain barrier.

⚡ What mould can do to your health:
- Suppresses immune cells and depletes glutathione (your master antioxidant).
- Triggers brain fog and neurological symptoms.
- Causes persistent fatigue by damaging mitochondria.
- Drives chronic inflammation in the gut, sinuses, and beyond.
- Disrupts hormone and reproductive health.
- Contributes to autoimmunity and long-term immune dysregulation.

💡 Research has linked mould and mycotoxins with conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, MS, demyelinating neuropathy, and even increased cancer risk.

If you are struggling with mysterious, multi-system symptoms, and especially if they improve when you are away from home, your environment might be part of the missing puzzle.

Autoimmune musculoskeletal pain isn’t just sore joints or the occasional flare-up.
It’s waking up stiff, aching, and fatigued, even after a good night’s sleep. Muscles may feel tender to the touch, joints can feel inflamed for no apparent reason, and everyday movements can become unpredictable.

💡 Did you know?
Autoimmune inflammation can affect not only joints, but also muscles, tendons, ligaments, and even the nervous system.
Flare-ups aren’t always linked to overuse; stress, gut health, and hormone changes can all trigger them.

🛠 Small daily habits that can help:
- Gentle morning stretches to ease stiffness before getting out of bed.
- For stiffness: try gentle heat (like a warm shower). For hot, swollen joints: use a cold pack to calm inflammation.
- Balanced meals with protein, colourful vegetables, and healthy fats to reduce inflammation.
- Short movement breaks every 30–60 minutes to keep joints from stiffening.
- Breathing or relaxation exercises to help calm the nervous system.

This pain isn’t ‘just in your head’, it’s your immune system mistaking your own tissues for a threat, leading to ongoing inflammation that affects joints, muscles, tendons, even your energy levels and mood.

We support people living with this kind of pain using a unique combination of osteopathy, nutrition, and Pilates. It’s a whole-body approach to calm inflammation, restore movement, and rebuild strength, gently and consistently.

🔍 Most people think probiotics are just for digestion, but clinically researched, strain-specific formulas have been shown to support:

✔️ Gut lining repair

✔️ Reduction of systemic inflammation

✔️ Relief from visceral pain (like in IBS or chronic pelvic pain)

✔️ Balance in the gut-brain axis

The best ones don’t just “add good bacteria”, they:

- Block harmful microbes

- Strengthen gut barrier function

- Regulate immune responses

- Help calm pain signals between gut and brain

🧠 That means they are not just soothing your stomach, they are helping your nervous system turn the pain volume down.

If you are dealing with chronic bloating, pain, or IBS-type symptoms, it might be time to move beyond generic probiotics and explore targeted, therapeutic support.

✨ “Coming back to life” ✨
Our lovely client Josephine shared this about their cranial osteopathy session with Eleonora:

“Her care and interest made me feel immediately better. In one hour she enabled me to feel as if I were coming back to life. I hadn’t really been aware of how much stress and tension I had been holding. I heartily recommend her.”

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle, deeply restorative treatment that can help release long-held tension, reduce stress, and bring your body back into balance. 💆‍♀️🌿

🛡Your Invisible Armour Against Autoimmunity

Every day, your mucosal surfaces (such as those in your gut, lungs, and sinuses) encounter thousands of microbes, toxins, and allergens.
Yet, most of the time, you don’t get sick. Why? Because this frontline defence decides what gets in, what stays out, and when to call for backup.
When that defence is weakened, your immune system can go rogue, mistaking your own tissues for an invader, triggering autoimmune reactions.

The good news? You can strengthen your mucosal armour:
- Eat a diverse, plant-rich diet
- Support stress resilience
- Keep moving daily
- Stay hydrated

💬 Your gut lining could be the missing link in your autoimmune journey. Let’s talk about it.
