I recently had the pleasure of joining Donoghue, host of the Single Parent Reset Podcast, as a guest speaker — and it was such an important conversation.

Orla creates a space for honest, supportive discussions around single parenting, helping parents feel less alone and more empowered as they navigate the realities of raising children solo.

As a single parent myself, this conversation felt especially meaningful to be part of.

In this episode, we talk openly about:

• What parental burnout really is (and why so many parents don’t recognise it in themselves)
• The emotional and mental load of parenting when you’re constantly “on”
• My personal journey navigating single parenthood — and what helped me begin to rebuild and find my way forward

This is a conversation for any parent who feels stretched, overwhelmed, or like they’ve lost a part of themselves along the way.

You can listen to the episode here: https://www.solascoaching.com/podcast

Thank you Orla for creating such a powerful platform and for having me as part of it 🤍

This workshop is about gently finding your way back to it 💛

“You’re allowed to need something too.” 💛

Not as an afterthought.
Not once everything else is done.
Not only when you’re at breaking point.

But as a human. As a mum. As you.

At the Mindful Parent Hub, we believe motherhood shouldn’t mean losing yourself in the process.

We’re here for the mums who are holding it all together on the outside…
but feel overwhelmed, touched out, or disconnected on the inside.

We create space for you to:
✨ Slow down and breathe
✨ Understand your emotions (instead of pushing them down)
✨ Reconnect with who you are beyond the mental load
✨ Feel seen, supported and not so alone in it all

Through our workshops, we gently combine reflection, emotional support and creative art therapy—
so you can switch off from the constant doing… and come back to being.

No pressure to be anything other than you are.
No judgement. Just real support.

Because you matter too. Not last. Not later. Now.

💫 And you don’t have to do it on your own

She planned the days, the treats, the memories…
(but forgot to plan rest for herself)

And now half term is over,
the house feels quieter…
but your mind doesn’t.

You’re still holding the noise, the needs, the constant giving.
Running on empty, wondering why you feel so drained
when you “made it so special.”

This is your reminder…
✨ You’re allowed to need something too
✨ You’re allowed to pause
✨ You’re allowed to be supported

Our Mindful Parent Hub workshops are back from Wednesday 22nd April
– and they’re designed to be exactly that.

A space to exhale.
A space to reconnect with yourself.
A space where you are held for a change.

Because you don’t have to keep pouring from an empty cup.

💛 This could be your reset

One of the biggest mindset shifts?
Learning what’s actually in your control… and what isn’t.

When you get clear on this, everything changes.
Your energy, your focus, your peace.

Pour into what you can influence.
Gently let go of what you can’t.

This has been a total game changer for me 🤍

Half term is over…
you gave them everything—
now it’s time to give something back to yourself 💛

Because being “on” all week…
planning, holding, organising, showing up…
it takes a lot more out of you than you realise.

And you don’t have to just push through and carry on.

Our Mindful Parent Hub workshops are back from Wednesday 22nd April
– and they’re your space to reset.

✨ 90 minutes just for you
✨ Time to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself
✨ Gentle support to work through what’s been building under the surface
✨ And a chance to get creative using art therapy — helping you truly switch off from the mental load

No pressure. No expectations.
Just space to breathe… and come back to you.

Because you deserve more than just getting through the days.

💫 This is your reset

5 signs you might be closer to burnout than you think…

If you saw yourself in this, you’re not alone 🤍

So many parents are living in this constant state of overwhelm —
pushing through, holding everything together,
and telling themselves it’s “just a phase.”

I’ve been there.
Running on empty, putting my needs last,
and not even realising how burnt out I really was.

But the truth is — awareness is powerful.
Because once you see it, you can start to change it.

You don’t have to keep doing this alone.

If you need extra support, there are people you can talk to 🤍
offer free support for parents, including:
– A confidential helpline
– Live chat and email support
– Parenting advice and guidance
– Online forums to connect with other parents

And if you’re ready to start making space for your own needs…
As co-founder of , we run workshops for parents who want to reconnect with themselves and feel more supported.

If that’s not accessible for you right now, I also work 1:1 with parents — so don’t hesitate to get in touch 🤍

Sometimes just being heard can make all the difference.

Save this as your reminder —
and if this hit home, it might be time to start looking at what you need too.

Sitting on the beach yesterday, sun on my face, kids laughing… and I caught myself thinking — this is it. This is one of those days 💛

The kind that doesn’t come around as often as we’d like. Life gets busy, the weather changes, routines take over… and these moments can slip by without us even noticing.

But yesterday, I noticed.

I felt calm. Happy. Present. And it made me realise how important it is to create more of these days — not just wait for them to happen.

A little reflection, a little intention… and actually putting it in the diary.

More joy. More ease. More moments like this.

You deserve that too ❤️

You’re not a bad parent, you’re a dysregulated one.

Let that land for a moment.

Because so many parents I speak to are carrying guilt, shame, and the quiet thought of…
“Why can’t I just handle this better?”

But this isn’t about you being a “bad” parent.

It’s about your nervous system.

When you’re overwhelmed, overstimulated, running on empty…
your body shifts into survival mode.

That might look like:

Snapping more quickly
Shutting down or withdrawing
Feeling impatient or reactive
Struggling to stay calm even when you want to

✨ These are not character flaws.
They are nervous system responses.

And the truth is…
you can’t access calm, connected parenting when your body doesn’t feel safe.

This is why awareness matters.
This is why support matters.

Because when you begin to regulate yourself,
everything starts to shift.

More pause.
More understanding.
More compassion—for you and your child.

You’re not failing.
Your nervous system just needs support 🤍

What would you do if you had a few extra hours in your day?

Would you finally take some time for yourself?
Get through the never-ending to-do list?
Or just get pulled into the usual busyness of life?

Now here’s the honest question…

Would anything really change?

Because the truth is—most of us would probably fill that extra time doing more of the same.

More doing.
More giving.
More holding everything together.

And still… feeling stretched.

✨ It’s not about having more time.
It’s about how we relate to our time.

When you’re constantly in “go mode”, your nervous system doesn’t suddenly choose rest—
it chooses what feels familiar.

So even when space appears… we don’t always use it in the way we need most.

This isn’t about doing it differently overnight.

It’s about noticing the pattern.
Creating small moments of pause.
And giving yourself permission to choose something different—even for a few minutes.

Because you don’t need more hours in your day…
you need support to use them differently 🤍

The moment I realised I couldn’t keep going like this…

There was a breaking point.

My relationship ended.
Everything felt like it fell apart.

I was at rock bottom —
starting again with no map,
no idea what the future looked like,
and no sense of control.

And in the middle of all that…

“Mum?”
“Mum?”
“Mum?”

The same questions, over and over.
Three little people needing me constantly.

I remember thinking…
“How am I supposed to hold all of this?”

I was exhausted.
Overwhelmed.
Just surviving.

But I kept going… because I had to.

That wasn’t me failing.
That was burnout.

If you’re in that place right now, I see you 🤍

You’re not weak — you’re carrying a lot.
