Recovery After Rhinoplasty with Rib Cartilage…

The donor area (your ribs) can be a tad more uncomfortable than your nose, but it's usually not the rib causing the pain. It's the muscles that have to be moved around to access the cartilage. Expect some pain with movement, which typically eases up in about 10 days. 📆

You can start showering after surgery! The dressing over the donor area is waterproof, but be cautious not to wet your face during shower time. 🚿💧

Returning to exercise? Well, it's similar to a standard rhinoplasty. At three weeks, you can ease back into it, and around five weeks, you should be good to go for your regular, intense workouts. 🏋️‍♀️💦

Rhinoplasty - Shortening The Nose...

When we talk about shortening the nose in rhinoplasty, it's not just a one-size-fits-all deal… there are two primary approaches - from above and from below. 👃🤔

Shortening from above means focusing on where the nose starts on the face and its separation from the forehead. It's all about that crucial upper connection.

The way you approach shortening significantly affects how your nose centres on your profile and semi-profile views. It's all about crafting the perfect balance! 📏👃

In my practice, I carefully consider both the top and bottom end to ensure you get that ideal nose-shortening! ✨

Treating Excess Skin Around the Neck…

When it comes to dealing with extra skin around the neck, the big question is whether it's a job for a neck lift or if it's time to join forces with a facelift. 🤔✨

I take a good look at the skin's looseness just under the chin. The skin below the Hyoid bone, typically lower down, responds really well to neck lift surgery. But when it's that pesky skin right under the chin, it can often benefit from a facelift procedure with a more vertical approach. This strategy not only makes for a coherent look but also delivers a stunning jawline and a smoother chin. 👍👄

Neck Lift surgery scarring…

When it comes to neck lift surgery, there's an art to organising those scars behind the ear. ✨ We want to ensure that your skin re-drapes with elegance and grace. 💃🕺

We've unlocked the secret to varying the tension at the back of the ear. 🤫🔓 By fine-tuning this process, we can make your scars shorter and more discreet. 🙌✂️

But I'd love to chat with you beforehand. See, the specific details of those ear scars can affect how comfortably you wear your hair back.🤝🤩

Temporal Lift vs Brow Lift?...

When we dive into the world of temporal and brow lifts, it's all about achieving that perfect expression around your eyes. 🤨🤩

Now, if your brows are low, maybe from furrowing or just feeling heavy, a brow lift might be the answer. But when it's all about shaping those arches, the temporal lift is the way to go. 🌟

But it's not just about lifting. It's about creating the perfect eyebrow shape! So, part of the discussion in consultation beforehand is the expression around the eyes we’re trying to achieve and, based on that, the technique to be used. 😄🔥

Management of the circles under the eyes 👀🤔…

It is one of the very common and very popular types of treatments both in cosmetic medicine and cosmetic surgery. It’s about knowing how much volume is right and when it is too much? 🤓🤩

For me, it's all about that lateral view. Using 2D and 3D imaging, I can pinpoint whether you need some. It's a similar challenge for both the younger and older folks. 🧐 It's less about ageing and more about the intricate anatomy of your orbit and the facial volumes underneath it. 😯

Revision rhinoplasty often requires a detailed understanding of both structural restoration and aesthetic balance.

This patient came to us after two previous surgeries, one of which had resulted in significant cartilage loss, functional collapse, and asymmetry. These are challenging cases, physically and emotionally, and require a highly individualised approach.

Using structural grafting, we focused on restoring symmetry, improving airway function, and supporting long-term stability. At 7 months post-op, much of the swelling has resolved and the early results are encouraging.

It’s rewarding to hear that this patient now feels more confident and at ease, both in appearance and breathing. Revision surgery is never about perfection, but rather achieving the best possible outcome through careful planning, precision, and continuity of care.

Subtle structural changes can have a profound impact on both form and function.

This patient underwent rhinoplasty with rib cartilage grafting to elevate the nasal bridge and reconstruct the tip - refinements designed to improve both facial harmony and nasal airflow.

Careful planning and open discussion are central to achieving results that feel both natural and aligned with the patient’s goals. It’s particularly rewarding to hear that, in addition to the aesthetic outcome, breathing function has improved significantly.

A considered approach is essential when planning breast explant surgery, particularly when implants have been in place for many years.

This patient underwent explant surgery under local anaesthetic after experiencing discomfort with older implants placed in the 1990s. Comprehensive pre-operative imaging and testing were carried out to rule out complications such as rupture or implant-associated lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), allowing us to proceed with confidence.

The procedure was performed conservatively, with a focus on minimising scarring and preserving natural tissue integrity. It’s encouraging to see such a positive early outcome, with volume returning and incision sites healing well.

🩺 Explant procedures can be both physically and emotionally significant. Reassurance, clear communication, and long-term planning are essential parts of the process.

Upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty ✨

This lady was unhappy with the appearance of her upper eyelids due to the skin laxity and skin excess as well as the contours of the lower eyelids and the fact that it was giving her a more tired appearance.

She underwent upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty which included a lateral canthopexy.

For the upper eyelids, the intervention involved reducing the skin excess and some of the volume in the inner corner of the upper eyelids.

For the lower eyelids the procedure scraps up included redraping of the fatty tissue from the lower eyelids over the rim of the orbit to produce a softer transition between the cheek and the lower eyelids, reduction of the lower eyelid skin excess through an access incision under the lashes and lateral support for the lower eyelids to protect the almond shape of the eyes. 🤩

Building Projection For The Nasal Bridge…

When it comes to boosting nasal bridge projection, you've got choices! You can opt for natural tissues like costal cartilage or facial grafts, or go for synthetic materials. The key is finding what suits you best! 🌟

Now, if you choose coastal cartilage, you have different techniques at your disposal. You can lay it over the top of the bridge for a subtle enhancement, or you can create a structured, parallel design that resembles walls going up.

We lovingly call this approach "elevated spirographs" because they're wedged on each side of the nasal septum and supported by the nasal bones. It's a technique that can produce stunning dorsal aesthetic lines, giving you that beautifully defined look! 💪
