When I opened up this clinic over a year ago never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be a finalist for the prestigious Safety In Beauty Awards. I’ve poured my heart and soul into Dr Selina Clinics and I’m so truly grateful to have my achievements recognised. I’ve had many a sleepless night about scaling and building the clinic, the financial and personal sacrifices made along the way haven’t been easy. And I still have so much to achieve and accomplish, feel like I’ve only just gotten started.

July has been a summer haze of weddings, sunshine and more time with the kids over their 6 week holidays.

I also managed to complete my post graduate menopause certificate and attend a ZO Skin Health Advanced course to update myself on the protocols.

The biggest highlight was finding out I’m a finalist for THREE categories in the Safety In Beauty Diamond Awards. Such a pinch me moment and even just being nominated is a major achievement for me.

After a year of study, I’m proud to have completed the British Menopause Society’s postgraduate certificate in the:

Management of the Menopause

As a GP, I see women regularly who are navigating perimenopause and menopause, whether it’s struggling with hot flushes, brain fog, low libido, anxiety, or sleep issues. We are learning symptoms can be vast and won’t be the same for every woman.

This certificate builds on my day to day clinical experience, giving me specialist expertise to provide safe, evidence-based care.

Far too many women are told their symptoms are “just part of getting older” and unfortunately often dismissed. HRT is complex and sometimes needs switching up to manage symptoms. Some women are unsuitable for HRT in which case alternative treatments are recommended.

I’m a big advocate for women’s health and always reading and learning to help support women in my role as a GP. Women from black and ethnic minorities have some of the lowest uptake of HRT use and it’s something you’ll often find me talking about - especially to my own family members.

HRT doesn’t just control symptoms, it also reduces the future risk of:

-osteoporosis
-dementia
-heart disease/strokes

I’ve also joined to offer a perimenopausal/menopausal supplement package to help manage many of the symptoms. These do not contain HRT and are not a substitute for HRT but do help with things like sleep, anxiety, brain fog and energy levels. So recently I had a treatment with a CO2 laser and documented my journey. I had the cool peel and just ablation, with no heat.

My skin has literally been glowing the last week. I was red for a few days but nothing too drastic. My skin feels smoother, less textured just even in skin tone.

Would you consider getting a CO2 laser treatment?

Wow look at this full face rejuvenation treatment 🤩The idea is to still look like you but a younger, smoother version. This beautiful patient was visiting from abroad and I feel privileged she chose me to perform her treatments.

Sometimes what we do really can be life changing. A patient who came to see me today is half way through her treatments with me. Today was quite an emotional day as she could see the end result was close. At times like this I feel so privileged to be able to provide safe and effective treatments.
