Sue was a larger than life character. Notting Hill will miss her tootling around on her electric wheelchair. I was honoured to have been chosen as the celebrant for her service

Did you know you can have a slideshow of up to 25 of your favourite photos at your local crematorium for around £50-£60. This is a service I can offer as part of the service. I have just uploaded the slideshow for Saucy Sues celebration of life which I have the honour of officiating next week

I note that pure cremation (direct cremation) have changed their message from no funeral because “nobody likes them do they?” to suggesting a memorial service instead to save on cost. As a trained funeral celebrant, this is something I can assist with. The “no crematorium” service can be held in your own home or in a venue of your choice without the normal restrictions on time.

If you are considering a funeral plan I would happy to offer a free chat. I would make it clear that I do not sell these nor can I recommend a specific company.

A sad occasion for Toms month mind mass but we also had a lovely weekend in Ireland and up with family and friends. I wrote this poem for him

Here is a shortened version leaving a lot of specific family details out

There was a young man called Thomas o’Dea
Who lived happily in Bandon with his family
They lost their mammy one dark day
Then daddy Martin said we’re going away
My brother and sister will look after us
We’re going to London, in them we trust
London was different and shrouded in fog
No blacks. No Irish and no dogs
They were hostile and that was a fact
It was a horrible way to act
But the O’Deas are all very tough
They are resilient and made of great stuff
Tom went to work where he sprayed cars
He decided that wouldn’t get him far
Then one day he met Tom McGee
Young man come and work for me
Tom worked very hard at his trade
With Tom McGee his career was made
A familiar name in London Town
They knocked so many buildings down

Tom and Mary said why don’t we?
Move to Roscommon with our family
In Roscommon their last years they spent
And Thomas made so many friends
Roscommon is such a friendly town
And those guys didn’t let him down
We really thank them most sincerely
That they loved our Tom so dearly
“You’re some flower” Tom used to say
We miss him so much now he’s passed away
Rest in peace now, Mary and Tom
We’ll never forget you now that you’re gone
