ABOUT ME
I have practiced reflexology in West London for the past 18 years, building a steady network of private clients through word of mouth and reputation. I previously worked at Reflexions in Westbourne Grove London until I moved to Spain in Sept 2019 -2021. Reflexion's tagline 'Walk In, Float Out' perfectly sums up a reflexology treatment. It is a holistic therapy that takes into considerati
on the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual. It is a method for activating the innate healing powers of the body. The specific type of steady even pressure of reflexology to the feet can produce dynamic healing and relaxation in all parts of the body. Reflexology is about bringing balance, harmony and a sense of wellbeing to the body thereby restoring equilibrium. HISTORY
From ancient text and illustrations we know the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health. It was several centuries and a number of transformations before reflexology came to the west with Dr William Fitzgerald in the 1990s and his discover of Zone therapy, then in the 1930s when Eunice Ingham intrinsically mapped the organs and glands of the body to reflex points on the hands and feet. Her full map produced the basis for maps used by reflexologists used today. HOW DOES IT WORK? It is believed the whole body is mapped in the feet, where there are over 9000 nerve endings. The theory is that the organs, nerves, glands and other parts of the body are connected to reflex areas or points on the hands and feet. By stimulating these areas using compression technique and a form of massage with the thumbs, fingers and hands it can create a direct response in the related body area. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- reduces stress
- induces deep relaxation
- improves circulation and lymph flow
- cleanses the body of toxins and impurities
- balances the whole system
FAQs
WILL IT HURT? the treatment will be relaxing but you may feel some discomfort if an area is out of balance or congested. WILL IT TICKLE? Usually no, reflexology is not a gentle massage. A steady medium grip is used with various degrees of pressure and probing of certain reflex points. If tickling becomes problematic, the same treatment can be done on the hands. INFORMATION NEEDED - medical history, lifestyle and current health will be noted and kept strictly confidential. HOW WILL I FEEL AFTERWARDS? Difficult to say as there is no single answer as every reacts differently. Most feel relaxed and calm and may sleep well. Some may feel a bit heady, which will quickly pass, this is a good indication that the treatment has had a positive effect and toxins are moving. AFTERCARE - I give aftercare advice to help maximise the treatment and suggestions of how to continue to work on any areas that come to light.
