We were thrilled to welcome volunteers from the League of Romanian Students Abroad UK, who kindly shared their time and talents with our residents.

The group organised a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, featuring singing, ballet performances, and plenty of warm smiles. Their energy and enthusiasm created a lovely atmosphere that everyone enjoyed.

One of our own care team members also joined in, treating us to a beautiful song that made the occasion feel even more special.

It was a heartwarming day filled with music, movement, and connection. We are so grateful to the volunteers for bringing so much joy to our home, and we look forward to welcoming them again in the future.

Residents enjoy a fantastic variety of events, starting with live music performances that had everyone tapping their feet and singing along. The uplifting tunes created a wonderful sense of togetherness.

We also kept active with ball games and a friendly round of mini golf, which sparked plenty of laughter and a little healthy competition.

Our creative side was just as busy - during arts and crafts sessions, residents explored their talents, making beautiful pieces to display and share.

It’s been a joy to see everyone joining in, trying new things, and spending time together. We look forward to many more moments of fun and friendship in the months ahead!

We enjoyed a visit to the local garden centre, making the most of the beautiful summer weather.

Over coffee and cake outdoors, everyone had time to chat, laugh, and soak up the sunshine. Afterward, there was a chance to browse the shop, try on stylish hats, and look at the colourful displays - perfect for a leisurely afternoon together.

Trips like these are a wonderful way to keep spirits high and enjoy life beyond the home. We’re already looking forward to planning our next outing!

We are always thrilled when our weekly live entertainment arrives. This special time each week transforms our lounge area into a vibrant hub of music and laughter, creating memorable moments for everyone. Whether it's a lively sing-along or a soothing musical performance, it’s heartwarming to see the residents' faces light up as they sing along or tap their feet to the rhythm - reminding us of the vital role that music plays in enhancing our well-being.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new vehicle dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of our residents. This new addition to our care home has been designed with accessibility and safety in mind, ensuring that every journey - whether it’s a scenic outing, a trip to the local shops, or a day out - is smooth and enjoyable. We have already made use of this vehicle and enjoyed a wander around our local garden centre.

We are delighted to be joined by James Lewis PT on a weekly basis. James runs a 45–60 minute fitness session tailored to our residents.

James’s programme overview is: "My fitness programmes are tailored specifically for seniors, focusing on gentle exercises that improve mobility, balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility. These programmes are designed to accommodate various fitness levels, ensuring that all residents can participate comfortably."

We have been creating flower arrangements, just in time for the Chelsea Flower Show! While creating, residents spoke about their favourite flowers. Most seemed to prefer either roses or carnations, perhaps reminding them of their weddings or special occasions.

We were fortunate to have a group of Irish dancers from Watford entertain us on a hot Saturday. The dining room was filled with residents and their families, along with the dance group from Halpin School of Irish Dancing. We cannot thank them enough for giving up their time to entertain us with their reels and set pieces. Our residents kept asking when Michael Flatley would come to perform for us!

Kestrel Grove celebrated 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe in style with indoor street parties. We held two events: one on the May Bank Holiday and another on the actual day, Thursday 8th May.

The dining room was decorated with flags, and we had special Union Jack tablecloths for the dining tables. The chef made cakes adorned with red, white, and blue icing. We feasted on salmon and cucumber sandwiches, enjoyed Pimms, and waved flags in time with the music. Two of the most favoured entertainers, Will and Nick, came to sing songs from the war, as well as love songs by Frank Sinatra and Neil Diamond. Families and friends joined us to celebrate together.

This year's Passover Supper was a remarkable success, bringing together a massive turnout of residents and their families. It was heartwarming to witness the support and love shown by families during this significant time. The dining tables were elegantly adorned with beautiful Seder plates, lovely napkins, and an enticing menu for the night. Many of the ladies dressed in their finest outfits, accessorised with appropriate jewels.

The menu featured a delicious selection of traditional dishes, including salt beef, gefilte fish, egg and onion, fish balls, latkes, chopped liver, and herring. As the evening unfolded, we enjoyed the company of delicious kosher wine served throughout the meal, with supper concluding with delightful traditional biscuits. A special moment of the night was when one of the resident’s daughters took the opportunity to share the story of Passover, explaining the significance of matzos and other traditional Jewish foods consumed during this meaningful festival.

Kestrel Grove had a super time celebrating Easter weekend. Many engaged in creative activities, colouring pictures to display on the Kestrel Grove Notice Board. On Good Friday, we indulged in the delightful treat of hot cross buns, a firm favourite.

Our residents brought their artistic flair by decorating beautiful Easter bonnets, which they proudly wore on Easter Sunday as we basked in the warm sunshine. The dining room was adorned with baskets spilling over with chocolate eggs, crafted by our talented group of crafters. It was a heartening blend of faith, friendship, and gratitude, creating a joyful atmosphere for all.
