“My eyes feel SO much better. There’s already less make-up bleeding, I’m dabbing less, they feel less inflamed, less irritated and that’s just after ONE treatment. I feel 50% better already!” Nicky Hambleton-Jones

Our founder Sharon Flora loved welcoming Nicky back for her second Envision™ treatment, a powerful, non-invasive solution for dry, irritated or makeup-prone eyes.
Seeing our clients feel more confident so quickly is exactly why we do what we do.

If your eyes feel tired, irritated or just not you, book a consultation and discover the Eye Retreat difference. 👁️

Let’s highlight something that’s super important: the scary impact of eye cosmetics and cosmetic contact lenses.

We all love some dramatic eyeliner or those mesmerising contact lenses, but did you know that some of these Halloween staples can be a little scary themselves? It’s easy to get carried away with those vibrant colors and glitter, but eye products can lead to some serious issues if we’re not careful.

First off, let’s talk about allergies and irritation. Many costume eye shadows and liners contain harsh chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. You might end up looking fab for the party but suffer from burning or redness afterward. Not the best combo, right? Opt for eye safe cosmetics such as that are free from harsh ingredients 👀

And those coloured cosmetic contact lenses that complete your look? They might look awesome, but if they’re not from a reputable source and properly fitted, they can seriously damage your eyes. Always get them from a licensed optometrist.

Don’t forget about hygiene! Sharing makeup or using old products can lead to infections—talk about a horror story! Make sure you’re using clean brushes and tossing out anything overdue.

Another thing to watch out for is the use of expired products. It’s easy to pull out that old eyeliner or glitter from last year’s makeup stash, but using old products can introduce bacteria and demodex mites to your eyes. Always check the expiry dates and when in doubt, toss it out.

Take care of those beautiful eyes, and let’s make sure this Halloween is memorable for all the right reasons!

My betrayal list 👀💔

The little things that make your eyes (and me) cry inside:
- No-shows 😭
- Skipping your Omega 3s
- Mascara older than your last holiday
- No home lid hygiene
- iPhone constantly on 1%
- Using the wrong skincare around your eyes

The surprising link between gel nails and eyelid dermatitis.

You might not expect your manicure to affect your eyes, but for some people, there’s a surprising connection.

Here’s why:
1️⃣ Chemical sensitivity: Gel nail products contain compounds like methacrylates, which can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. One of the most common areas affected? The thin, delicate skin around the eyes.

2️⃣ Cross-contamination: During the nail process - filing, curing, or even applying polish, small amounts of product residue can transfer from your fingers to your eyes.

3️⃣ Touch habits: If you often touch or rub your eyes, you can unknowingly transfer these chemicals directly onto your eyelids.

4️⃣ Fragrance and additives: Many nail products include fragrances or preservatives that can irritate eczema-prone or sensitive skin.

If you’re struggling with eyelid dermatitis, it may be worth considering whether your gel manicures are playing a role.

At The Eye Retreat, we take a holistic approach to eye health, helping you uncover the small triggers that make a big difference.
