“Blink, breathe, repeat. 💻 In a world of back-to-back Zoom calls, it’s easy to get caught up. Remember to give your eyes a well-deserved break and keep that blink-rate in check.
Practical Strategies for Relief - To keep your eyes from feeling like sandpaper by 5:00 PM, try these adjustments:
💻The 20-20-20 Rule - Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This allows the eye’s focusing muscles to relax.
💻Conscious Blinking - Place a sticky note on your monitor that says “BLINK” to remind yourself to fully close your eyes periodically during calls.
💻 Screen Ergonomics - Position your monitor so the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level. You should be looking slightly downward, which helps keep the eyelids lower.
💻 Lighting Control - Use a matte screen filter to reduce glare and adjust your screen brightness to match the ambient light in your room.
💻 Hydration - Use preservative-free artificial tears before your meetings start to help with symptoms
💻 Supplement with Omega-3 and collagen with lutein that helps with blue light damage for skin and eyes- link in bio.
💻 Humidify - If you’re working in a room with AC or heating, the air is likely very dry. A small desk humidifier can help slow down tear evaporation.
💻 Blue Light Filters: While the jury is out on whether blue light causes permanent damage, using “Night Mode” or “Warmth” settings on your monitor can reduce the intensity and make long-term viewing more comfortable.
