Whats this ?? It's Red Clover - a herb that contains high amounts of isoflavones, a type of phyto-oestrogen. Phyto-oestrogens are present in certain plants, and they have a balancing effect on oestrogen levels in the body, which is really useful in peri-menopause! Red Clover has been subject to a number of studies which have found them beneficial for hot flushes, night sweats, palpitations and fatigue.

Both our esmé perimenomé and menomé supplements contain Red Clover and can help with hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes and fatigue. Try them today - available on Amazon or through our website - www.esme.co.uk

True!!! Some studies suggest that omega-3s may help reduce the frequency and severity of hot flushes, a common symptom of both perimenopause and menopause. The exact mechanisms are not fully understood, but it's believed that omega-3s might influence hormone levels and the body's inflammatory response, which contribute to hot flushes.

Are you perimenopausal or menopausal and noticing that your body odour has changed and not necessarily in a good way? A change in body odour is a common perimenopausal complaint and can be a source of huge distress for women.

It's vital to bear in mind that our sense of smell can change during perimenopause, making us think we smell even if we don't. Sometimes, excess sweating from hot flashes and night sweats can nourish underarm bacteria, leading to more body odour. Falling oestrogen levels at menopause can also leave our bodies with relatively higher levels of testosterone (produced by our ovaries) than before. This can attract more bacteria to the sweat we produce making it smell worse.

So what can be done? Try wearing layers or natural fabrics eg cotton. If hot flushes and night sweats are an issue consider reducing alcohol, spicy food and caffeine which can be triggers. Exercise can also be help. Using a deoderant with a higher percentage of aluminium chloride can be extremely helpful. Botox applied to the armpits can also be very effective.

If you would like to try a non-hormonal approach - try our esmé perimenomé formulation which is specifically formulated for women experiencing perimenopausal symptoms and contains an effective balance of herbs and minerals including red clover which is scientifically proven to help with hot flushes and night sweats. Available on Amazon and through our website - www.esme.co.uk.

Are you perimenopausal ( or menopausal) and wondering if to take a Vitamin B 12 supplement ? There are several really good reasons to take one. Here are three!

Vitamin B12 is essential for the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep, and appetite. Women experiencing perimenopause often experience mood swings, insomnia, and changes in appetite, and maintaining adequate levels of vitamin B12 can help alleviate these symptoms.

Vitamin B12 supports the health of the nervous system, which can become increasingly important during perimenopause as women may experience symptoms such as tingling sensations or numbness in extremities due to hormonal fluctuations.

Vitamin B12 is involved in energy metabolism, which can combat the fatigue commonly experienced during perimenopause.

Try our Esmé perimenomé or menomé supplement today - both contain Vitamin B12 as a key ingredient and are specially formulated for women experiencing symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause. Available on Amazon or through our website www.esme.co.uk

Are you perimenopausal and confused about how you should be exercising to support your health?
Strength training is a form of exercise that improves the strength and endurance of your muscles. It involves using weights, resistance bands or your own body weight. It has been found to be extremely helpful at perimenopause and menopause as it increases muscle mass, can reduce risk of osteoporosis, improves heart health and can improve mental health.
Strength training is one of the best ways to build and maintain muscle mass, which, in turn, increases metabolic rate. This is important, because decreased oestrogen levels during menopause cause muscle mass to decline, which in turn causes metabolism to decrease and subsequent weight gain.
Strength training exercises can include exercise such as pilates, cycling, HIIT workouts, or resistance band exercises. You can also build strength in your muscles by using dumbbells or kettlebells or even something as simple as repeatedly standing up from a chair without using your arms orcarrying bags of shopping. Whatever your preference just get started - it's never too late!

Are you perimenopausal or menopausal and worried about osteoporosis ? Osteoporosis is a condition that occurs more commonly in older adults that weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break.Declining oestrogen levels at menopause can increase a woman's risk of developing osteoporosis as prior to menopause oestrogen promotes the activity of a type of cell that promotes new bone formation.

So what can you do? Diet is key, try to eat a balanced diet rich in calcium. Dairy products, leafy greens, nuts, seeds and tofu are all examples of food rich in calcium. Consider a calcium supplement if you are unable to get an adequate amount of dietary calcium. Vitamin D is found in oily fish, red meat and egg yolks - the body also creates Vitamin D from direct sunlight when we are outdoors. Taking a Vitamin D supplement during the autumn and winter is currently recommended by the NHS.

Regular Exercise - weight-bearing exercises such as walking, jogging, dancing, or weightlifting will stimulate bone growth and strength. Incorporating flexibility and balance exercises will also help to reduce the risk of falls and fractures.

Quit Smoking and Limit Alcohol: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can weaken bones and increase the risk of fractures. Quitting smoking altogether and limiting alcohol intake to < 2 units / alcohol daily can promote bone health.

Are you menopausal or perimenopausal and feeling low or anxious?? Vitamin B6 could help ! Vitamin B6 plays an important role in the creation of serotonin – a neurotransmitter or chemical messenger known for communicating signals across the brain. When serotonin is at normal levels, you feel more focused, emotionally stable, happier and calmer.

As women age, levels of serotonin tend to decrease, which can influence and intensify menopausal symptoms such as low mood.Supplementing with Vitamin 6 may help to counteract these mood symptoms.

Low B-vitamin concentrations have also been found to be associated with cognitive weakening and dementia in menopause and old age. Low vitamin B6 concentrations were also associated with low bone mineral density, increasing fracture risk in menopause.

Want to try a supplement containing Vitamin B6? Try Esmé perimenomé or Esmé menomé both of which contain a unique mix of herbals, minerals and vitamins (including Vitamin B6!) which can help to restore your joy and make you feel more like yourself again.

Esmé supplements are available through our website -www.esme.co.uk or on Amazon.

Are you experiencing pain in the hips, knees, ankles , wrists or fingers ? You are not alone , achy joints are a very common perimenopausal and menopausal complaint. Oestrogen plays a crucial role in reducing inflammation and maintaining joint lubrication. As it starts to fluctuate in perimenopause and then decreases in menopause, some women may experience increased inflammation in the joint which causes pain and stiffness.

Healthy eating and exercise can play an important role in improving this joint pain, however some women also find it helpful to take a supplement. One study published in 2020 found that women taking Omega 3 fatty acids daily had a significant reduction in menopause associated joint pain and stiffness.
