On retreat. Treating my mind , body & nervous system to some peace , quiet, massage, rest, nourishing food, more rest and practicing presence of mind.

I have really needed this break .

With my dads passing and no space to grieve, and my health being affected by stress ( as is everyone’s!), and the stress being unmanageable at times.. it’s been ALOT.
I feel like as life gets more complex, my need for simplicity is getting stronger. I’m taking a pause to get clarity, and refocus my energy and vision for my work. Im looking forward to autumn , and settling into a routine - batch cooking , warming foods, dog walks in leafy woodlands, open fires, and meditation / nervous system regulation circles…. I’ll be announcing something very special soon!

The world is feeling heavy right now, and I’ve found myself lost for words, and not posting anything that isn’t FREE PALESTINE related. Some people ask me why I care so much. I wonder why they don’t. I feel like it’s a privilege to be able to look the other way, but how would it feel to be a parent in Gaza now, knowing that the world is looking away?
So I choose not to look away. And the more I see of the structures that I hadn’t been aware of before - such as the UKs staunch & unconditional support for a genocidal state, the more I feel called to learn and read to understand how it is that we’re HERE.

It’s possibly ironic that I teach nervous system regulation and have found myself in freeze over the genocide. Though I can name it, and this simple act feels enough, for now.
I know that not bypassing my feelings, and meeting myself where I am is the only way through this.

So much choice. Depending on where you are in your nervous system, navigating the shopping aisles might feel like an insurmountable challenge.., how do we navigate these choices and know what’s good for us without getting overwhelmed?
My sessions include kinesiology , which help you to understand your own body’s needs.
Having a session with me is not being told what to eat. It’s reconnecting you with your body’s wisdom , understanding your story at the cellular level, and helping you to cultivate a new level of thinking to help you solve your own problem. Nervous system regulation + nutrition = inspired solutions for better mood, energy, less inflammation and more joyful living!

I definitely need to work on my photo composition! But this recipe was too good not to get it out right now!
Grain free, hormone balancing, refined sugar free, and optimal brain food!
Almond - Maca cookies..
2 cups ground almonds ( I used the pulp from making almond milk)
1 free range egg
1 tbsp maca
1 tbsp smooth almond or peanut butter
Cinnamon
1 mashed banana
1 tbsp honey ( or any other sweetener of your choice)
1 tsp baking powder
( I added some cheeky dairy free sugar free dark chocolate drops as it’s the start of Easter holidays here in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 )
Mix well and spoon onto a greased baking tray in 3cm diameter “ dollops” 😆
Bake in a preheated oven at 175 for 15 mins.
These treats can be eaten for breakfast, or as a snack to power your children through the morning or afternoon without hangry mood dips.
Low mood or emotional swings are typically caused by blood sugar imbalance, so these cookies , being rich in fat , are ideal for keeping those blood sugars stable and mood & energy level ( this counts for hormones too!)

Children’s healthy development needs a healthy gut, and a source of key nutrients that the body cant make. However, when there is developmental delay, or mood / learning issues - the root cause ( and therefore the fix) is often not solely nutritional.
With the families I work with, I often find that it’s environmental , like mould or antibiotic damage , for instance.
This affects Vagal tone, and this has a knock on effect on gut health, nutrition & neurotransmitter status - which affects sleep, learning, mood and development.

This coming Wednesday the 12th February we will be joining South East Wales Rivers Trust on the Ely Trail in Fairwater once again. We'll clear some invasive cherry laurel and do a litter-pick but main effort will be planting trees. After SEWRT's previous successful events, we'll be going back to make even more of a dent, and try and create more biodiversity in the area.

Meet at 11am at the start of the Ely Trail on Landwade Close, Fairwater CF5 3DT.


All equipment — gloves, litter-pickers, bags, hoops, hand saws, loppers, etc — is provided. But if you have your own, please bring it along!

Please wear wellies, boots or stout shoes, and suitable clothing.

We take all scrap metal, cable, car batteries, NOx canisters, single-use vapes, unwanted hand tools, old sewing machines, and builders bags.

Recovering from burnout / physical breakdown is no joke. You’re using all of your energy just to get through the day.
You’re forced to find a new way of operating, whilst still needing to navigate modern life - jobs, bills, family etc.
You know that you could get better at asking for help. You know that you shouldn’t feel bad when you can’t do it “all”. But still, asking for help feels too vulnerable and striving to do it all is your way of proving yourself.
Ok. This way clearly doesn’t work. So what now?
What if you could feel supported, and calm in your body? What if your mind didnt whir a million times a second? What would you do with all that peace?
What if you had enough energy to get through the day AND for the things you love? What would you do with it?
I’ve understand what it takes to recover from burnout because I’ve done it. In 2020 I had full system failure , paralysis from the waist down due to massive inflammation, spent over a month in hospital, and was given 20% chance of recovering my ability to walk.
I’ve spent the past 4 years living my learning - and now I only use what I know works. This experience has changed me - on every level. It’s also changed the way I practice . I know what recovery takes. I know recovery and healing can happen. Not only have I coached other people through it, I’ve done it myself!
