The photos do not do the food justice at all.. but if you’re in Cardiff I highly recommend checking out for their tasting menu. 10 courses, each more delicious and surprising than the next . How makes food that tastes better than it looks, when it looks so incredible .. is beyond me! Between & Chef Tom, their passion for what they do really comes through in this curated experience that blew us away.
Surprises around every corner - even the non alcoholic drinks ( celery, coconut & caraway!) - didn’t disappoint.
The whole experience has left on a total high.. so much do we’re still talking aboit it.. 2 days later!
We’ll definitely be back!

As part of my recovery from extensive nerve damage & neurological issues from Transverse Myelitis , I have been using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy with . Lying in a pressurised chamber, yoy breath pure oxygen , to improve blood concentration levels. It’s been found to help lower inflammation, reduce viral load, and had been particularly helpful for neurological disorders. ( ADHD and low iron / O2 go hand in hand)
I find that when I come out of the chamber, my brain is sharp , my vision is clear , I feel deeply nourished and calm.
As for my symptoms - my cognitive function is improving ( I put that down to the sun total of all my efforts combined, of which HBOT is a piece of this puzzle)

Given the overwhelming amount of conflicting information on diets & supplements , I’m not surprised youve got analysis paralysis and feel confused.
You don’t need to know everything , but only what your own body needs to function at its best.
Tired? Check your Thyroid / B12/ iron/ sleep quality.
Low mood? Look at your exercise, gut health, relationships, self expression, creativity and protein intake.
Dull skin/ acne? Look at your toxic load and detoxification routes.

As a mum & nutritional therapist, I like to keep things simple. Im a bare nails, minimal make up , straight to the point kind of girl. I have too many plates spinning to waste time on extensive morning routines , or in fact , on anything that isn’t absolutely effective or needed.

Throwback to this article I wrote for on Holistic Resilience. I love writing -from the process to the product. I love the space it requires, the imagination it cultivates, the rich worlds that words have the power to transport us to.

It is said that when a persons system is in a state of dis- ease, the first thing to go is their creativity.
I know that for me, being creative requires a sense of playfulness - it requires me to be in my Ventral Vagal state ( parasympathetic dominant state).

My students who attend my nervous system course also attest to this truth - they recently have been reporting that their own creativity has been improving since joining the course. This makes sense. To cultivate creativity , we must first cultivate a sense of safety in the body - and this requires practice & patience.

As the brains neuroplastic nature means that it can heal post trauma & injury , so too can the body heal given the right tools.
I see this time and again , and this celebratory text that came from a family who have joined my Family Wellness Hub - a membership for families with children with ASD, ADHD, OCD, PANDAs, TICs, - just makes my heart sing!

This child with ASD, who was previously not getting to sleep for 2 hours, is now falling asleep in 45 minutes ( still have a way to go but progress is progress!)
This is showing that her metabolic pathways are working to break down her tryptophan and convert it into melatonin .
She’s saying more unprompted words and is more engaged in imaginative play. Her parents are saying things like “ she’s never done this before!” As they’re watching their little girl develop in leaps and bounds in front of their eyes.
Can you imagine how this would feel, to see your child heal in real time - through nutritional and lifestyle approaches alone? Knowing which foods supports your child’s sleep, mood and behaviour? Understanding how our modern diets are affecting our babies, and then feeling confident enough in your knowledge to implement a delicious and healing meal plan that supports the whole families health? And not only this, but then seeing your beautiful child feeling better , and engaging in family life..

Yesterday I shared a story in my coaching group that had just been sitting at the tip of my tongue, a little out of reach for 5 years - but when it came, so did the insights and I want to share a little of those insights here.
5 years ago, during the thick of the Covid lockdown , I became paralysed out of the blue and was hospitalised in Swansea neurological ward. I’ve not talked about this experience much as it isn’t the kind of thing people want to hear. The experience of healing from total physical breakdown has given me an incredible insight into the power of questions and making space for peoples stories.
On hearing that I was paralysed, Most people, with the best intention , just ask “ you’re better now though?” They care that you’re well. I nod yes, I am on my feet. But I can’t quite explain that better just isn’t a word that belongs in my story of recovery. To be better would imply that I was the same, just upgraded version of the person I was.
The people who have been through the fire themselves seem to understand this nuance. They ask “what was it like for you?” The people who have had to dig deep and found their own well of self compassion and grace for a body / mind that just doesn’t work in the way they want it to - have emerged from the experience with a well of compassion, grace and curiosity for others’ experiences.
The that simple difference when you ask someone about themselves is so powerful. To ask an open question that invites the person to share their experience and thus provide an opportunity to be witnessed - which is healing in and of itself .
This experience has seismically shifted how I hold space for my loved ones and my clients.
It has changed the questions I ask, the pauses I’m comfortable with , the space I hold.

As a health practitioner, the gift my personal experience has given me - to hold an unflinching, relentlessly loving space for people’s deepest wounds - is something that , 5 years on - im able to say that I’m grateful for.

Yesterday I had a really hard day. Grief and exhaustion overwhelmed me, and my body went into freeze.
I’m telling you this so that you understand that even nervous system regulation teachers have THOSE days.
I am fortunate to have good, healthy & grounded people in my corner who I can co regulate with , though it’s not always been my reality.
Needing Co regulation isnt weakness - it’s a basic human need.
When your system becomes flooded with stress hormones, the fact that your physical body responds with an adrenaline overdose leaving you wired, running nowhere fast and protecting yourself from invisible threats doesn’t mean anything more than the fact that your nervous system has a very entrained hardwired response which is black belt level at self protection.
So when that happens, thank your body and celebrate it for what it does for you. AND - be sure to choose people , places, and situations that allow your system to regulate back to safety & connection. This is crucial. If you’re constantly feeling unsafe - you’ll be taxing your resources at a rate that’s leading you into burnout territory. Trust me , I’ve been there!

If you’re into bread but not nasty ingredients - is a great bread to buy.
They are refusing to use flour that’s been fortified with folic acid - and that’s great news for anyone who has issues converting folic acid into the usable version folate . Don’t know if you do have folic acid- folate issues? If you or snyone in your family had fertility issues, cancer, ASD, ADHD, allergies or depression / anxiety , likelihood is that there’s a folate conversion issue ( you can get tested through getting your MTHFR gene tested)

Because of the role that folate plays in the body, Having a folate deficiency has a hige and varied impact on the body. If the issue is chronic , think folate.

Nutrigenomics is the practice of engineering our genetic health through food and nutrition.
It is entirely possible to optimise your health , no matter what your current health picture . This requires self understanding, awareness, and a bio individual health approach . No one size fits all.

Inflammation is so rife these days because our adrenals are so incredibly taxed.
Here are just a few things that disrupt our adrenal health
- poor blood sugar control
- lack of good fats in our diet
- poor mineral availability
- low stomach acid
- emotional/ psychological / relational/ financial stress
- lack of exercise
- inability to express who we really are
- eating an inappropriate diet for our individual needs
- environmental toxicity ( heavy metals, glyphosate)
- pathogens ( viral/ bacterial / fungal)

After prolonged periods of stress, the cells become cortisol resistant and the adrenals have to work harder for the same effect. As cortisol elevates blood glucose and suppressed thyroid function, you can start to see how a person can get into a “metabolic pickle”!
The result is pain, stiffness, low immunity , low energy autoimmune territory.

When a person in this place walks into my clinic - I don’t start with diet necessarily. I start with reconnecting them to their sense of self - their self trust, their wisdom, their connection to feeling safe in their own bodies.

Once this connection is made , true healing can happen. Without this, any intervention is just a sticking plaster that will leave the person more frustrated and helpless when it no longer works for them.

Healing can only happen in Safety & Connection.

This is the power of nervous system focussed well-being care.
This is why I hold weekly nervous system regulation classes , and why I include access to these sessions in my support package to everyone who works with me.
