This week were invited to ’s HQ in Bedford to provide the patient positioning solutions for the LATP (Local Anaesthetic Transperineal Prostate) biopsy training day provided by Mermaid Medical Group & .

Clinicians from all over the UK attended lectures and a hands-on workshop. By moving away from TRUS’s to LATP, better and safer biopsies in patients.

The UK’s preferred interventional patient Chair for LATP and outpatient urology the Medi-matic® and the Ocean Fin Lithotomy Stirrups were available to try by all delegates.

The next dates for this CPD certified course are;

A high percentage of surgeons experience discomfort from poor ergonomics during surgery, with many reporting musculoskeletal pain, particularly in the back, neck, and shoulders. This discomfort can lead to decreased performance and even early retirement.

In a 2021 study of 167 surgeons found that 84.4% did not have access to ergonomic chairs or stools in their clinics.

were approached by to advise and provide the optimal patient positioning solution in their new Clinic rooms within Cumberland Infirmary.

The Team will be carrying out LATP (Local Anaesthetic Transperineal Prostate) biopsies and other interventions such as cystoscopies and BPH interventions. The solution would require a number of positions included, seated, lithotomy, supine and lateral.

It was agreed that two Medi-matic® 115.9’s Patient Chairs paired with the Ocean Fin Stirrups would best suit their Clinical needs and ensure patient comfort.

The Medi-matic® 115.9 has similar movements to an operating table, but with the benefits of treating patients in the ambulatory setting. With the retractable leg plate patients can be positioned flat quickly in the event of an emergency. Also with the addition of the clip on leg plate patients can be treated or examined in a supine or lateral position.

With the electric movements operated by either the hand or foot remote staff and up to 16 programmable memory settings, this reduces staff manual handling of patients while increasing speed and efficiency of your workflow.
