What a beautiful morning of creativity, community and Easter joy! 🌸🐣🎨

On 20th February 2026, we were absolutely delighted to host our free half-term Easter craft activities at Nunhead Green (SE15 3QG) and what a wonderful turnout it was! Families, children of all ages, parents, mums and carers all came together for a few hours of fun, laughter and creativity from 10am to 1pm.

The room was filled with colour and imagination as everyone enjoyed:
✨ Easter arts and crafts
🎨 Painting and creative activities
🌿 Fun, hands-on activities celebrating the environment
🐰 Lots of Easter-themed family fun

It was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces getting involved, making memories and connecting with one another.

This special event was proudly delivered in partnership with Home Instead Lewisham and Southwark and Mums and Carers and the incredible team at The Salvation Army, whose support helped make the day such a success. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm.

At Home Instead Lewisham, we believe in bringing generations together and creating spaces where our community can thrive and this event truly reflected that spirit. 💜

Did you know that memories from decades ago can sometimes be easier to access than what happened this morning?

That is why reminiscence therapy can be so powerful. Long term memories are often stored differently in the brain and can remain intact even when short term memory becomes unreliable.

What many people do not realise is that reminiscing is not about testing memory at all. It is about reducing pressure. A photograph, a familiar song or a shared story can help someone feel calmer, more confident and more able to communicate, often leading to richer conversations and better emotional wellbeing in the present.

Very often, when supporting someone living with dementia, our Care Professionals in Lewisham naturally use reminiscence as part of their visits, through conversation, music, photos or shared routines. It is one of the many small, thoughtful ways we help clients feel more at ease and connected in the moment.
