Many reports of being short staffed and it importantly being unsafe. Unfortunately the public don’t see that. We’re not able to demonstrate as data collected internally by organisations is held because it’s not good news.
Would you please report your shifts here https://www.mysafestaffing.uk It takes less than 2 minutes and It’s totally anonymous and will help show the real problem. Without data we are just making noise with no evidence. By gathering this we can show the problem.
The tool is for in-patient care areas currently in Eng, Wales & NI (Scotland to be added) for acute & MH areas and comunity trusts.
The reports asks just 3 things:
1: How many actual staff were there on duty (and as it sufficient to provide the care. Note this tool is especially wanting to know where your staffing is below the rostered staffing.
2: Were there care issues, missed care, incidents
3: For you the person reporting on the shift how did it feel
We need genuine reports, several are clearly fictious - 100 patients!! This does no one any favours, and yes while anonymous, we have ways of cleaning out suspicous data.
If your Trust site or type is missing please used the option to let me know - again its anonymous, and you can choose to be emaled back. The database comes from NHS Digital NI & Wales, so it may not be complete.
