Your home is quietly ageing your skin.
And I don’t mean in a dramatic, scary way , I mean in that slow, cumulative, nobody talks about it way.
The window you sit next to every morning? Up to 75% of UVA radiation passes straight through standard glass. No burn. No redness. Just silent, steady damage to your collagen and pigmentation year round, cloudy days included.
Your phone screen, your TV, your laptop all emitting HEV blue light close to your face for hours every day. The sun is still the biggest source, but the difference is: you wear SPF outside. Indoors? Most of us don’t think twice.
And then there’s your central heating. Dry indoor heat strips moisture from the skin barrier faster than most people realise and a compromised barrier means everything else gets in more easily.
Here’s what I actually recommend:
☀️ Wear SPF indoors daily. A broad-spectrum SPF 30+ with iron oxide is your best defence against both UVA through glass and HEV from screens.
🍊 Layer a Vitamin C serum underneath. Antioxidants neutralise the free radical damage caused by light and heat before it becomes visible.
💧 Support your barrier if you have central heating a good humectant moisturiser morning and night will counteract the transepidermal water loss dry heat causes.
📱 Night mode on your devices won’t eliminate blue light exposure, but it reduces intensity worth doing.
The truth is, skin protection isn’t just an outdoor habit. It’s an all-day one.
