*** Dyuta Krida is a traditional Indian dice game played on a Chaupar board with Pasha dice, which dates back to the Vedic period. Played on the day of Kartik Pratipada, the first day after Diwali, it is believed to have been invented by Lord Shiva and is played with Goddess Parvati.

The game is played to seek blessings for a prosperous year, with the outcome seen as a prediction of future fortune.

Prediction: The outcome of the game on Kartik Pratipada is said to be a forecast of one's fortune for the entire year.

Rituals: The day starts with an Abhyang Snan (ritual bath), followed by wearing new clothes, and then playing the game. Women often lead a Mangal Aarti (auspicious lamp ceremony).

Timing: The game is traditionally played in the early morning on Kartik Pratipada.

Origin: According to legend, Lord Shiva invented the game and played it with Goddess Parvati for entertainment, to test luck, and to forecast wealth.

Modern context: While gambling is now a taboo in many places and is banned in most Indian states, Dyuta Krida is still played for religious purposes.
