🥦🍓 Worried about pesticides in your food? Here’s what you need to know!

Every year, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) releases the Dirty Dozen & Clean Fifteen — two lists that highlight which fruits & veggies are most and least likely to carry pesticide residues. 🧪

✨ Dirty Dozen = Produce with the highest pesticide levels (best to buy organic when possible)
✨ Clean Fifteen = Produce with the lowest levels (okay to buy conventional)

Small habits = big impact on your health 💚

🔥🔥Here are 5 ways you can help to manage your stress ✅

1️⃣Be active
Exercising is certainly a good way to release any built-up emotion and worry, it however, won’t get rid of your stress completely. A lot of people tend to exercise to take their mind off a stressful situation, and this doesn’t have to be anything strenuous; exercise could involve walking, yoga, swimming, cycling, or any other form of exercise that you enjoy. 🏄‍♀️🏄‍♀️

2️⃣Take control
When feeling stressed it’s so easy to catastrophize, but it’s important to take control of your emotions before they get the better of you. The feeling of having no control is a common emotion with those dealing with stress, and by managing this you will feel more empowered.😇😇

3️⃣Connect with People
Having a good support network is key when dealing with stress. Surrounding yourself with positivity and the people you love can really affect your emotions and your overall wellbeing. When you’re feeling stressed and in need of advice, having people around you to talk to can really help! 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨

4️⃣Prioritise Yourself
Many people struggle to put themselves first and prioritise their wellbeing before anything else, but it’s the most important thing we can do to manage our emotions. It’s crucial to take some time out of our busy lives to do something we enjoy, such as socialising, exercise or relaxation – anything that will allow you to unwind and reset. Try and set yourself some ‘me time’ a couple times a week; you’ll quickly notice the difference it makes! 🤠

5️⃣Avoid any unhealthy habits:
When feeling worried or stressed, it is common for people to slip into unhealthy habits. This may include smoking, drinking, or even habits such as nail biting or teeth grinding. If this is something you’re likely to do, it’s useful to look for alternative ways to deal with your emotions so that you’re not risking your health. Go on a walk, listen to music, maybe give baking a try.. 🤬

are compounds found in many fruits that play a crucial role in maintaining health by protecting the body from . Here's why antioxidants are prevalent in and why they are important for our :

✅Protection Against Oxidative Stress: Our bodies generate free radicals as a byproduct of normal metabolic processes and in response to environmental factors like pollution and UV exposure. These free radicals can cause oxidative stress, damaging cells, proteins, and DNA. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, preventing this damage and thereby reducing the risk of chronic diseases.

✅Reducing the Risk of Chronic Diseases: Consuming antioxidants has been linked to a lower risk of many chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's disease. By protecting cells from damage, antioxidants help maintain overall health and longevity.

✅Supporting Immune Function: Antioxidants contribute to a healthy immune system. For example, vitamin C, a potent antioxidant found in many fruits like oranges and strawberries, is essential for the proper function of immune cells and the production of antibodies.

✅Anti-inflammatory Properties: Many antioxidants also have anti-inflammatory effects, which can help reduce chronic inflammation associated with various diseases, including arthritis and certain cancers.

💥Key found in Fruits

🍋Vitamin C: Found in citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, and others. It is essential for collagen production, immune function, and skin health.

🥑Vitamin E: Found in small amounts in fruits like avocados. It protects cell membranes from oxidative damage.

🥭Beta-carotene: Found in fruits like mangoes and cantaloupes. It is a precursor to vitamin A, which is vital for vision and immune function.

🫐Flavonoids and Polyphenols: Found in berries, grapes, apples, and cherries. These compounds have a range of health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.

affects around half of society, some have fixed rituals for this, others struggle with severe pain and discomfort. What they all have in common is that they have always been affected by stigmatisation. The Old Testament already states that "if a woman is bleeding and there is blood on her body, she shall remain in the impurity of her period for seven days. Whoever touches her is unclean until evening."

THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. . We should feel by our bodies 💪 - and ❌ not ashamed .

✅Giving access to more mensural education for girls and man in schools and workplaces must be a priority!

✅We need to break the cycle of shame and encourage open and honest conversations about periods!

✅Accept and appreciate what the bodies does for us on a monthly basis - it's a wonder!

Several studies support the claim that gender bias in medicine routinely leads to a denial of pain relief for female patients for a range of health conditions 🥵 . Researchers have argued that it's easier and less expensive to facilitate experiments for the male pattern than for women’s hormonal fluctuations 👉 so, because of our hormones, female bodies are too complicated for science 😡

⛔️ One woman was told she was being “dramatic” when she pleaded for a brain scan after suffering months of headaches and pounding in her ears. It turned out she had a brain tumor.

❌ This year, the Journal of the American Heart Association reported that women who visited emergency departments with chest pain waited 29 percent longer than men to be evaluated for possible heart attacks.

🛑 Another study showed that middle-aged women with chest pain and other symptoms of heart disease were twice as likely to be diagnosed with a mental illness compared with men who had the same symptoms.

❓These are just some of the stories of women who say their and suffering has been or by doctors. A number of studies support the claim that women in pain often are not taken as seriously as men ‼️ 🤨

What's meant by the fight or flight response❓What happens in the body short-term?❓And why is the long-term activation of stress response so bad for us❓

While the fight or flight response is crucial for dealing with immediate threats, problems arise when it becomes chronic or is activated too frequently.

🍀It's important to manage stress and cultivate coping mechanisms to prevent the negative health effects associated with chronic activation of the fight or flight response.
✅Techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation exercises, regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help mitigate the impact of chronic stress on long-term health.
👂Seeking support from mental health professionals can also be beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic stress and its consequences.

Cold therapy is the practice of immersing oneself in cold water. Its origins can be traced back to Ancient Greece and was used primarily for relaxation and socialization purposes. Now, trendy immersive cold baths are marketed as a part of a process to improve our overall . can be practiced by swimming in an unheated pool or simply by taking a cold shower. 💦💦

What happens in the ?
It's almost a mini ‘shock’ to your system; when you're in cold water, your brain is too busy focusing on making the unpleasant sensation go away rather than thinking about all the reasons you are unhappy or stressed. It helps you get out of your head.

The body goes into a “fight-or-flight” response when the shock of cold water hits our body, causing it to release stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. As a response to these signals, she says the body will compensate by hyperventilating, increasing heart rate, and constricting blood vessels. Once our skin adapts to the cold temperature, we get a surge of “feel good” hormones such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins which will leave us feeling happy, relaxed, and mentally rejuvenated after a cold shower.

👊 Start with just a few seconds of exposure to cold water. Over time as your body adapts, try increasing your exposure by five seconds with each shower until you are able to tolerate the cold water for at least 30 second 🥰🥰
