My name is Dhimple I am the President and Founder of the BPP Nursing Society London.

I have worked a Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for Children for 15 years with most of my time specialising cross the Cardiology services. I currently work as Ventricular Assist Device (VAD/Mechanical Heart) Specialist Senior Associate Carer. In 2020 I was offered a career development opportunity as a Register Nurse Degree Apprentice (Child Branch) with BPP University.

I am in the second year of my 4 year apprenticeship about to start my sixth clinical ward placement on the cancer and leukaemia ward for children at GOSH. Over the last two years I have rotated on across many paediatric specialities such as neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedic, cardiology and respiratory. A typical week would consist of one 12.5 hour shift a week with the Mechanical Heart team and two additional 12.5 hour shifts rotating on placement ward as a supernumerary apprentice. This apprenticeship offers full time pay whilst I work toward my Batchelors of science degree, on completion of course I will be offered a position as part of the guaranteed job scheme.

As a Diversity Ambassador and Student Voice for the School of Nursing at BPP I can be an advocate for my peers and work closely with program leaders to improve the experience as well as for the patients I look after. As a passionate and committed individual this apprenticeship has given me a chance to achieve my goal of becoming a paediatric nurse at GOSH. I am an enthusiastic learner and the apprenticeship is a great opportunity for me to learn new skills and develop further on my existing skill set and deep-rooted passion for nursing. I strive to make a positive difference in all that I apply myself to.

From a young age, i have been interested in human behaviour and the question of ‘why do people do the things they do’ and I enjoyed caring for others and taking on the nurturing role for my family and friends.
Having studied Psychology as an undergraduate, in 2018 i started working as a mental health assistant within a forensic ward for young people in Nottingham. This role gave me insight into how mental and emotional health impacts on physical health and through this experience I found my passion for caring for others holistically.
I then joined GOSH in 2021 as a nursing apprentice with BPP. I have found that Nursing is a perfect blend of science and care and allows me to make a difference in the lives of patients which I find fulfilling and a huge motivation.

Hi everyone! Going to start off this page by introducing the faces behind the nursing society.

First up is myself! I started my journey in healthcare doing an apprenticeship as a healthcare support worker in outpatients at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I really enjoyed being clinical and got to witness the care and difference the role of nurse made to a child with complex illnesses and needs. I wanted to be more involved in patient care and support patients and families further through their difficult journey hence applying for the RNDA course! I am currently working on an immunology/Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) ward part-time as a healthcare assistant alongside, university and placements! It can be difficult but, its nice to have a day of being clinical to break up the university work!

I am excited about this nursing society and what it can become, I cannot wait to meet all of you at our future social events! I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the course or nursing in general, please drop us a DM or email!
