UR Capoeira

UR Capoeira UR Capoeira is a teaching method that encourages you to discover your capoeira style and manner. I grew up alone with little, almost no parental guidance.

At the age of 18 I decided to practice martial arts to develop myself - my teacher was Ray Coates. Ray helped me develop as a person and became a mentor - I'm forever indebted to him for helping me become who I am today. I was doing this training in the 80's in Newcastle upon Tyne, which was essentially a foreign land to the skinny las from Southend. Martial arts practice lead me to discover Capoeira back in '89 and since then I have been involved and developing students as my way of Life. I have had many influences and inspiration by Brazilian Capoeira masters but the man that really helped most was formally Mestre Marrom & Alunos now Ngoma Angola. Moving to London in '91 allowed me to immerse myself in the then Capoeira from Brazil development and since then Capoeira and Capoeira Angola has been a central pin in my world. I'm now writing a book so to share the trials and tribulations that formed me. I currently have 4 Children of which I have a close relationship with 3 and consider my self a full time father.

Our Story

We teach Capoeira and use it to improve the lives of those that practice. We teach men, women and young people in London and greater London. We believe that practicing capoeira can really develop the individual.

We inspire, develop and guide individuals in the capoeira game. What we achieve in the gameplay of Capoeira is transferred into real life by you. We believe that feeling healthier, stronger, flexible and agile from capoeira training stimulates and motivates you to pursue a better life. Learning to dance also brings a more satisfying social life.

You will need to focus and dedicate time and effort to get the results you are looking for nonetheless the rewards are many. Master Fantasma and U R Capoeira group have been producing these results with individuals from many varied backgrounds for over 25 years.

U R Capoeira is centered around traditional Brazilian capoeira teachings which include music, song, dance, acrobatics and rituals used by capoeira groups around the world. Whatever level or place you are at - our teachings are for you. If you are already a capoeira practitioner we will help you develop insight and vision in the various ways to play. If you are a complete beginner we will hold your hand and guide you until you are ready to stand and learn alone.
