Most athletes train strength, speed and endurance. But your breathing can be the hidden factor that makes or breaks performance.

Train smarter with your breath:
💨 Keep your mouth closed and breathe through your nose. This boosts oxygen efficiency and keeps you calm under pressure.
💨 Before training, slow your breathing. Your body will release tension and your mind will sharpen.

Have you ever noticed how much of our younger selves we carry in our thoughts, reactions and even in the way we breathe? 💛

Sometimes past experiences can make our breath shallow, tight, or held back, especially in moments of stress or overwhelm. Each slow inhale and gentle exhale is a way of telling that younger part of us: you are safe, you are held, you are loved 🌬️

Try this now:
1️⃣ Pause and place a hand on your heart, or wrap your arms gently around yourself.
2️⃣ Take three slow, calm, intentional breaths.
3️⃣ Imagine breathing love, safety and comfort to your inner child or any other part of you that longs for it.

CONTROL YOUR BREATH. CONTROL YOUR MIND 🏃‍♀️🌬️

This weekend I ran my first-ever half-marathon, The Big Half. Running across Tower Bridge at the halfway point taught me more about my breath than my legs.
When your body wants to slow down, it’s focus that keeps you moving forward.

Breathwork is my tool for that focus. Your ability to focus on your breath is your ability to focus on anything.

By training my breath, I train my mind: steady, calm, present. Whether it’s in sport, work, or daily life, the ability to regulate your breath is the ability to regulate your attention.

As my legs grew tired, one thing kept me calm, steady, and moving forward — slow, controlled breathing through the nose. Afterwards, friends told me I looked “relaxed” and “calm” out there. That was the breath at work. 🌬️

💡 Try this before your next task or in a challenging moment:
👉 Place your attention gently on your breath
👉 Notice the inhale, notice the exhale
👉 If your mind wanders, guide it back
👉 Slow the breath down
👉 Extend the exhale slightly longer than the inhale when under pressure

That’s it. Simplicity is the practice.
Notice how the noise drops away, and clarity rises.

Your breath is the bridge between chaos and clarity 🌬️✨

Most of us think that breathing = more oxygen.
But here’s the paradox: when you over-breathe, your body actually gets less oxygen where it’s needed.

Over-breathing reduces CO₂ → and without enough CO₂, oxygen binds too tightly to haemoglobin. That means less oxygen is released to your brain and muscles.

The result?
⚡ Anxiety + stress
⚡ Poor focus + brain fog
⚡ Fatigue + disrupted sleep

✨ 3 common signs you might be over-breathing:
1️⃣ Frequent sighing or yawning
2️⃣ Mouth breathing at rest
3️⃣ Fast, shallow chest breathing

🌬️ The fix is simple: slow, gentle nasal breathing. Think calm, quiet, and light.
Because your breath isn’t just automatic — it’s your anchor.

Hey there, beautiful souls! ✨ I am so excited to be hosting my next breathwork session on 9 June at Blackheath Complementary Health Centre. This will be a safe and supportive space for you to explore the power of your breath and connect with the wisdom of your body. Whether you are new to breathwork or have been practising for a while, this session is open to all who are seeking healing and transformation. 🌿

During the session, we will be using conscious connected breathwork to activate the body's natural healing response and release stuck energy. You may experience a range of emotions, physical sensations and insights as you breathe, but rest assured that whatever comes up is just right for your journey. I will be there to guide and support you every step of the way. 💫
