Breathful Being

Breathful Being Advanced Oxygen Advantage® Instructor & trauma-informed breathwork practitioner. Sessions for nervous system support, resilience & embodied living.

18/11/2025

Here’s a part of my conversation with from last night’s live. We talked about breath, nutrition and what “nourishing your nerves” really means for us, plus a small preview of Sunday’s workshop.

There were a few tech glitches in the recording, but subtitles are on and it’s easy to follow.

On Sunday we’ll go much deeper:
• Ksenia will share practical ways to support your nervous system through food
• I’ll talk more about the science of functional breathing, how your breath affects your nervous system and guide a breathing practice to help you settle, restore and switch on your OFF switch
(The recording of the demo breath practice during the live was glitchy, so I left that bit out!)

Everyone who opts in at registration gets a little goodie bag to take home.

Your breath is one of the most direct ways to influence your nervous system, stress physiology and performance. It’s not about staying zen and it’s not just about a momentary stress relief or emotional release.

It’s about training your nervous system to rise to a challenge, come back down again and stay adaptable.
It’s about learning to use your breath intentionally instead of letting it run the show.

Your breath isn’t a magic trick. It’s physiology you can train. And when you know how to work with it, life stops feeling like something that happens at you and starts feeling like something you can actually meet.

If you want to learn this in a way that’s practical, grounded and not performative wellness fluff, that’s exactly what I teach at .

Some days the breath is the only thing that feels steady.
So I follow it. Slow, soft and patient.
And little by little, my mind follows. And so does my body.

If you’ve been craving more calm and stability in your system, I’d love to share these tools with you on 23 Nov at Nourish Your Nerves. I’m co-facilitating with nutritional therapist , who’ll be offering practical ways to support your nervous system through food and nutrition, before I guide a gentle, science-backed breathing practice to help you learn how to settle and reset with your breath.

People often tell me I seem calm, even when things get intense; in training, at work or when life feels full.
But calm doesn’t mean there’s no pressure.
It simply means meeting that pressure differently.

The vagus nerve (the body’s calm switch) carries about 80% of its communication from your body up to your brain, and only 20% the other way.
So how you breathe, move and rest directly shapes how your mind feels.

We take around 25,000 breaths a day, and every one sends your brain a signal about your state.

If your breath is fast, shallow, or through the mouth, your brain hears stress.
If it’s slow, steady, and through the nose, your body says: “I’m safe. I can slow down. I can focus.”

Calm isn’t a personality trait and it’s not just a mindset either. It’s a physiological state that we can train.

🫶🏻 Want to learn simple, science-based ways to train your nervous system to respond to stress differently?
Join me and for our Nourish Your Nerves workshop on 23 November, where we’ll explore the food and breath that support balance from the inside out.

So many of us live in constant go-mode. Even our rest feels rushed. This afternoon workshop is an invitation to slow down and listen to what your body truly needs.

Together with Ksenia Chevkinova, we’ll explore simple, science-backed ways to regulate your nervous system through nourishment and breath, helping you restore balance from the inside out.

🫶 You’ll learn how food and oxygen work together to calm stress and support focus,
and experience guided breath practices to steady your mind, soften tension and reconnect with yourself.

Because calm isn’t something we find; it’s something we create when we care for our body.

💚 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🌿

When your mind feels full, start with your breath.
You don’t need an hour, or a perfect meditation space. Just 60 seconds of gentle, nasal breathing can calm your nervous system and bring your body back to balance.

Try this simple ritual:
🌬️ Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds
⏸ Pause for 2 seconds
💨 Exhale slowly through your nose for 6 seconds
Repeat for 60 seconds, or until you feel yourself soften.

Each breath is a signal to your body:
You’re safe. You’re present. You’re enough.

✨ 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗨𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 ✨

It didn’t start like this.

For much of my 20s, I didn’t know what balance even felt like. I lived in my head; chasing goals, working long hours and rarely stopping to breathe. I was so focused on achievement that I lost touch with how I actually felt in my body.

It took exhaustion and the quiet moments after it to make me pause long enough to notice my breath.
I didn’t start practising breathwork to chase performance; I started because I was searching for stillness and safety in a world that rewards burnout.
That’s where it began. One small inhale, one slow exhale, a simple return to my body.

The journey to balance was not linear; like learning to do the Crow Pose (Bakasana). I fell, laughed, breathed and tried over and over again. And every time, I found my centre a little more.

True balance isn’t about avoiding the wobble; it’s about remembering your breath when everything tilts. 🌬️

At Breathful Being, my work is about helping you use your breath to find steadiness; in movement, in stillness and in everyday life.

It’s a blend of:
💨 Measurable Physiology — using the science of Oxygen Advantage® to train your body for lasting stability and resilience.
🌿 Embodied Safety — as a Trauma-Informed Practitioner, I guide practices with safety as a priority, always moving at your system’s own pace.

We’re not just “doing breathwork.”
We’re creating an inner ground you can return to anytime; a space of steadiness you carry within you. From that space, you can rise into your fullest potential.

✨ What does inner balance mean to you right now? Let me know in the comments 👇🏻

🙊🙊 SHUT YOUR MOUTH (in the nicest possible way! 🙈) It's the simplest, most powerful advice you'll ever get for focus, energy and calm.

Most people breathe shallowly through their mouth, which keeps the body in a constant, low-grade stress state. It's also an oxygen delivery sabotage.

The solution is the simple foundation of all functional and performance breathing: Nasal Breathing.

When you switch to nasal-only breathing, at rest, at your desk, or even during exercise, you immediately activate a cascade of physiological benefits that are your fastest path to unlocking calm, sustained focus.

💨 Nitric Oxide Production: Your nasal passages release Nitric Oxide, a powerful gas that widens blood vessels, boosting blood flow to your brain and muscles.

💨 Optimal O2 Extraction: Nasal breathing slows your respiratory rate, helping you build CO2 (carbon dioxide) tolerance. This ensures the oxygen you do breathe in is efficiently released where you need it most.

💨 Nervous System Calm: It forces a slower, deeper breath, activating the Vagus Nerve and signalling to your body that it's safe to be calm and focused.

This isn't just a wellness trend. This simple habit is the non-negotiable foundation. Ready to dive into the techniques that turn this foundation into a massive performance advantage?

We will dive deep into simple science-based measurable protocols to optimise your oxygen delivery and train your focus at the Breath of Clarity Event on October 18th!

Your breath is your most overlooked training partner.

Most athletes train strength, speed and endurance. But your breathing can be the hidden factor that makes or breaks performance.

Train smarter with your breath:
💨 Keep your mouth closed and breathe through your nose. This boosts oxygen efficiency and keeps you calm under pressure.
💨 Before training, slow your breathing. Your body will release tension and your mind will sharpen.
💨 Between sets, use slow breaths to speed recovery so you can hit the next round with more power.

I work with athletes on going deeper, using science-backed techniques to simulate high-altitude training, improve CO₂ tolerance and expand lung capacity.

When breath, body and mind work together, performance elevates to a whole new level.

✨ Want to give it a try? My upcoming Focus & Clarity session on 18 October will be a taster into how breathwork can sharpen your focus, regulate your nervous system and help you find clarity under pressure. Check the link in my bio for more details.
