A woman’s journey is felt through color, vibration, and frequency in the resonance of what we refer to as the “chakras,” or the psychoneuroendocrine system. She moves through them through her body, emotions, thoughts, relationships, communication, dreams, and spirit.
🌈
The root and sacral chakras anchor her into her creative, hormonal body through the ovaries and adrenals. Here is where she establishes her rhythms and flow through life, understanding how she is within the dynamic dance of estrogen and progesterone every month.
🔴🔸
As she establishes her physical rhythm, she makes her way into the external world of creating family, friends, work, and manifesting her outward desires through the solar plexus and heart chakras. We may see issues here with work-life balance, insulin resistance, ovulation may become more erratic.
🌟💚
Through the heart, she births her new self. One not of the physical body, but of her divine being. This is not always an easy birth through the canal of truth, the throat chakra. There is an unearthing of the physical, manifesting in symptoms related to heat, wind, and water through hot flashes, night sweats, swelling, drying up of libido, bones, and skin. There can be resistance to make this physical to spiritual transition, but it is inevitable.
🦋🩵🦋
Once she is through the canal of her upper birth, rather than the lower birth of her body, she becomes still, strong, and settled in her inner awareness. She realizes the journey was taking her to the Source of her being. She is whole, complete, and resolute in all aspects of her self.

After a wonderful time learning, baking, and sharing bread with Dr Vanessa Kimbell in at her beautiful Northamptonshire home & kitchen (aka The Sourdough School Ltd) earlier this year, I am beyond excited to finally start my Diploma in Nutrition and Digestibility of Bread today 🙏

My life has already been changed by embarking on this path that I have become so passionate about and that fascinates me so deeply; integrating science, baking, nutrigenomics, gut microbiome and social prescribing to nourish individuals and communities through Vanessa’s BALM (Baking As Lifestyle Medicine) protocol.

I look forward to sharing more with you in clinic and here. GC x

Such a significant conversation. Having delved into the literature around C-section and its lifelong implications for the offspring I think it’s important to raise awareness and why this question is always included in a Functional Nutrition consultation

Metaflammation is the special name given to the metabolic inflammatory state associated with obesity. This chronic, low-grade inflammatory state originating from metabolic cells in response to excess nutrients and changes in gut microbiota, contributes to the development of many non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Diet, overweight and obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle are contributing factors to metaflammation.

Eat the rainbow 🌈🌈🌈

As we enter into 2024 why not take a moment to think about what food means to you and make an intention to nourish yourself with all the rich colours and flavour food and life has to offer ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

Why do I talk about "rainbows and food"? Because the rainbow means many things. On a scientific level, it implies light and water coming together to create color. Color is connected to pigments in plants, phytonutrients, vibration, frequency, and even, healing, which brings us to the spiritual perspective. The rainbow of colors is unifying rather than dividing, positive, embracing, creative, hopeful, and inspirational. That's why I talk about "eating the rainbow," as it gives the best of the physics of eating and the metaphysics of living.

Your weekly NED Alert - Feed your microbes to deal with stress: a psychobiotic diet impacts microbial stability and perceived stress in a healthy adult population in Molecular Psychiatry. 2022.
With Expert Review from Kate Lawrence.

A small randomised controlled trial explored the impact of a psychobiotic diet, compared to a control diet, on perceived stress, sleep and gut microbiota. A high psychobiotic diet is one high in prebiotic and fermented foods. 45 healthy adults (18-59 years) with poor dietary habits were recruited and randomly allocated to the active intervention (pyschobiotic diet advice) or control intervention (Irish healthy eating guidelines) over 4 weeks.

The results over the trial period showed that perceived stress improved in the psychobiotic diet group, along with subjective sleep quality. Only subtle changes were seen in microbial composition and function between the 2 groups. Neither cortisol awakening response nor measured immune markers were affected by dietary intervention.

Authors concluded that using a diet targeted to positively modulate gut-brain communication may have the potential for reducing stress and improving sleep. However they caution that, although improvements in stress were only observed for the intervention group, the post-intervention stress levels were not significantly different between the groups.

About last night….I’ve been in an inward place lately recovering from a surgery and spending some time reflecting on various things so I was ready to hear the straight talking .b.peterson at his ARC event last night.

Jordan’s points always return to purpose and living our highest purpose by taking personal responsibility to get our lives and wellbeing in order so we can transcend and transform to be able to withstand the challenges of life and to serve our community.

« We are each more responsible for the state of the world than we believe, or would feel comfortable believing »

A pertinent reminder of where energy goes energy flows and for me to be mindful about what I fill my time engaging with and it’s benefit to my higher purpose of service. In a time where we are faced daily with horrors around the world it can be easy to get drawn into this apocalyptic doom rather than focus on being the change and make the changes that can have collective power to tilt the world uphill 🙏

Did you know that 1 in 2 men & 1 in 3 women will get cancer in their lifetime?

There are various modifiable and non-modifiable factors that cause tumour growth and these can include genetics, DNA mutations, mitochondrial dysfunction, mycotoxins, diet, metabolic health, microbiome, pathway signalling, circadian rhythm etc.

Cancer is not a disease, it is a process that will manifest differently from person to person.

In functional medicine we work holistically taking a deep scientific dive into identifying the genetic, biochemical, physiological, environmental, lifestyle and psychological factors that underly dis-ease and address these to reverse the progression and improve the ‘host state’.

If you want to know more about how metabolic dysfunction is a key driver then I highly recommend book (pictured) 💚
