Regatta Safety

Regatta Safety Regatta Safety, (Brent Lifeguard Club), is a voluntary organisation that provides Safety Boats.

Regatta Safety provides Safety Boat cover for various Regattas including Rowing (British Rowing, formally know as the Amateur Rowing Association, ARA) allowing them to row safely. We also provide cover for everything from Punting Regattas, Sailing, Dragon boat racing, to general water safety.

It's been a busy last 3 days with providing safety coverage at rowing events. Today was the Veterans 4's Head Race. 375 boats rowing from chiswick to putney, the Oxford Cambridge boat race course. Luckily only 1 casualty that i know of, someone who was very cold.
Next event in a few weekends time, weather permitting. With the amount of rain we have had so far, part of the environment agency waters are on yellow and some on red boards. Red boards, no one is going out.

Saturday 15th November, head 4's race, let's say over 18', no juniors. We were lucky with the weather, no rain, but us older people do start to feel the cold. The only things that need rescuing were lumps of trees floating down river which were on the course.

Friday 14th November, new rowing event on the river Thames Junior Head 4's. They had 275 boats at this youth event, which is a great amount of junior rowers. For their first event it was a shame about the weather conditions, rain. Let's hope that next year's event they will have better weather.

We're out today on the tidal Thames for the Fours Head.

Last week ( July 2025 ) we provided a safety boat for London Youth Rowing ( LYR ) and for Great Ormond Street ( GOSH ) events which were held on the River Thames. The participants from various companies would row from Greenwich to Chiswick which incorporates the the Oxford / Cambridge race course. They have a nice row through London and then it becomes serious when they arrive at Putney, the start of the Oxford / Cambridge section. The companies that take part are supporting 2 great charities.
So next year if your companies will let you, get yourself a place on the Oarsome Challenge.
