This time of year can feel very different for different people. 💛

For some, there’s warmth, connection & moments of joy. For others, it can bring grief, anxiety, old memories, or just the effort of getting through.

If you’re living with trauma, loss, addiction, depression, anxiety or any other struggles, you are not failing if you can’t feel joyful this Christmas.

Be gentle with yourself, rest when you can and prioritise what feels safest for you.

And if you find light in small or unexpected moments, I hope you let yourself receive it.

I wish you peace and gentleness with yourself, whatever you’re feeling, as you move through this season. ❤

Christmas can stir up grief, bring up old trauma, highlight tricky family dynamics, or amplify anxiety and depression. It’s okay if you don’t feel merry and bright, your feelings are valid. ❤️

Here’s how you can protect your peace this season:

✨ Set personal boundaries - it’s okay to say no to events, conversations, or situations that feel overwhelming. Plan shorter visits and remember, 'no, thank you' is a complete sentence.

✨ Create quiet moments - give yourself space to rest, reflect, or just breathe away from the noise. Protect your energy.

✨ Lower expectations - Christmas doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s idea of perfect. Social media can make you feel like you're not doing enough so take a break if it feels too much.

✨ Reach out for support - connect with someone you trust, a friend, or a therapist if things feel heavy.

✨ Acknowledge and validate your grief or emotions. Allow yourself to feel the way you do without guilt.

Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t work out… maybe you just haven’t connected with the right therapist yet.

One of my clients had been through six therapists and years of depression. After we started working together, little by little, they found their resilience, self-worth, and joy, and are now they’re living depression-free.

Healing is possible. Sometimes it just takes the right guidance to make it stick. 💛
