They called him Billa — “bluey” — because his eyes carried the calm and depth of the ocean. 💙
I was only nine when we lost him, but his legacy has never left us. He was a respected man, remembered for his — the selfless service that runs through Sikh culture — and his contributions to society. He gave with generosity, he integrated with dignity, and he embodied compassion in action. 💙
Yet he still faced racial abuse — even for something as simple as the colour of his eyes. People assumed he was a white man who had converted. That racial pain still echoes today, because discrimination has never truly disappeared. 😔
But here’s the truth: it should NEVER be about the way we LOOK. It’s about the way we LIVE. 💙
And whether you are Sikh, Hindu, Christian, Muslim — or of any religion, colour, race, or ethnicity — there is something greater that UNITES us all: our humanity. 🙏🏼💙
If we remember what it means to be , we carry forward the real legacy: compassion, respect, and the courage to stand together. 🇬🇧
This is how we empower a nation. Not by division. Not by attacking the innocent or the vulnerable. But by dignity. Not by hate, but by appreciation for what people like my parents — and so many immigrant families — have contributed to make this country GREAT.
The UK becomes stronger when we rise together, when we , and when we educate ourselves about the true history and people of this nation. Those who once stood side by side to defend this country are still here, and they are in pain because of these hateful crimes. It’s time to make it STOP. 💙
