Welcome to my page, Osteopathy is so much more than a way of treating bad backs and painful joints; It is a hands on approach that works with the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate. By using osteopathic techniques to improve mobility and blood circulation, all tissues in the affected area can benefit. So it addresses the health of the whole body and that might include relief from headaches, stomach aches, period pains, asthma... by addressing good posture, circulation and joint alignment. I have a practice in Totnes, Devon where I'm available for appointments. I also teach Osteopathy at the European School of Osteopathy, and Post Graduate studies at the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy.

These ideas are relevant for ACUTE, i.e. recently injured, painful, low backs and for CHRONIC, longstanding injuries.

This exercise would benefit someone with DISC PROBLEMS in the lower back, looking for SELF HELP ideas that will reduce pain, avoid surgery in the current climate of lockdown, and move towards healing rather than deterioration.

BE GUIDED BY YOUR BODY’S RESPONSE, IF IT'S PAINFUL THE BODY IS WARNING YOU NOT TO DO THESE MOVEMENTS.

The idea is minimal, frequent movement; do these exercises every hour, within your comfort range. Your aim is to keep the body gently moving without causing inflammation.

It's important to rest, even though you might be working through the pain, to do some specific gentle back EXERCISES and to try out hydrotherapy (HOT & COLD).

Hi Facebook followers, as an osteopath I thought I would make a few little videos to give you some tips and exercises on self-healing and staying healthy during this enforced lifestyle change.

Aches, pains, and injuries carry on even when we’re staying indoors, not doing much, and when it is difficult to get physical treatment like osteopathy.

I will be creating more videos with updates and exercises that can be done at home as well as self-help ideas for rehabilitation after a bout of flu/COVID 19/respiratory compromise.

I hope these videos of simple exercises will help you with your aches and pains. Small changes can make a big difference.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments, please like and share the videos.
