Jing, a 29-year-old business consultant originally from Shanghai, has always believed in giving back. After establishing her career, she wanted to help others in a meaningful way. Jing chose to participate in the “Freeze and Share” programme through London Egg Bank, which allowed her to freeze her own eggs while also donating to a family in need of a donor. Thanks to her decision, a couple who had struggled for years finally welcomed a baby girl into their lives. Here’s what the parents wrote to us:

We were delighted to see that Dr Sophie Zadeh's recent paper was published in Reproductive BioMedicine Online. The project was a great achievement and we were really proud to have been involved in consulting and supporting recruitment. The paper, titled ‘Direct-to-consumer DNA testing: The perspectives and experiences of donor conceived young adults’, describes findings from a qualitative study of 33 donor conceived adults aged 18-30 and highlights the broad range of experiences. The study found both active interest and disinterest in direct-to-consumer DNA testing among this age group, with almost equal numbers of participants having taken (58%) and not taken (46%) a test. The findings highlight an absence of guidance and support around DNA testing for donor conceived people.
