In Daoist medicine, the Sovereign is a metaphor for the Heart. It represents the presence and physical location of a numinous and formless power called Shen (spirit) within each person.

Shen is another word for the power of consciousness, giving us the ability of awareness, cognition and intelligence.

Shen conducts all life processes within our physical body by commanding the flow of Qi through the acupuncture channel system.

As a method, acupuncture is a way of accessing and altering the flow of Qi in the channel system. As a ritual it is the act of resonating loving presence from the practitioner’s heart to the heart of the patient.

When practiced skilfully and compassionate, acupuncture becomes a complete system of medicine capable of healing the whole being.

The Daoist acupuncture apprenticeship will equip you with the necessary skills and draw out your capacity for loving presence.

In Chinese medicine water is related to the kidney. The kidney energy is in charge of our deep resources, our constitutional health and deficiencies and because of this link it affects fertility.

You can think of it like our body's savings account. Every time you push yourself instead of resting you spend some of your savings and diminish your reserves.

Natural water (ocean, lakes) reminds us that we need to rebalance, rehydrate, rest and digest. Instead of pushing ourselves into fight and flight mode.

Take some time to recharge yourself, breathe deeply, sleep earlier, eat well and of course use acupuncture and herbs to replenish your lost reserves!

Introducing my drink of the season - Chrysanthemum tea. I have been drinking this flower infusion since the beginning of Spring. Chrysanthemum (菊花) is great for calming our liver heat, which is often brought by the rising of Yang in our body. It is also caffeine free so I have can have it any time of the day.
There are many other seasonal food tips. Let me know if you are interested by leaving a comment!

I’ll be honest with you, I love to eat everything, including meat.

However, Spring is the season for vegetables. In Chinese’s 24 seasons, we are now in 春分 (the middle of Spring). During this time, the weather gets warmer and the yang in our body starts to rise.

On one hand, the yang is trying to rise, on the other hand, we have also accumulated a little fat from all the delicious feasts we’ve had in the Winter.

We need to give our body a good cleanse in order to let the Yang move and absorb this new nutrition.

This is my meat free dinner tonight: courgette + tofu, ginger and spring onions stir fry. I am also planning to eat a lot of spinach, broccoli and pak choi in the coming days 🥬

Tell me what vegetables you’ll be having for Spring (and your recipe). Also make sure you have enough protein in your diet when making vegetarian and vegan options 💪🏼

Having irregular periods, night sweats or hot flashes?
This acupoint on your leg above your ankle is one of the most used acupoints in treating fertility issues. It's called 三陰交. It helps regulate menstruation and build better quality of lining.

Massage it gently for a few minutes every day, after shower or before bed, will tonify the yin in our bodies. This will help relieving hot flashes and improving night sweats and regulate your cycle 😌

Working late today, but dinner is not to be compromised! Having miso chicken stew with vegetables, broccoli with a pinch of salt and drizzle of sesame oil, and of course a bowl of rice. Nothing fancy.

I always try my best to include a balance of protein, fat, fibre, vitamins and some carbs in my meals. I also like my food warm (it’s better for your stomach and internal organs), so stew is a good option. Make a big pot, divide it in smaller portions and freeze them for days like today. Your future baby will be grateful for all the good nutrition you ate that give them the best start.

I previously mentioned the importance of Vitamin D for fertility in my blog post. In fact, research shows that liquid Vitamin D is the best and most effective form for our body absorption. Very often I recommend a Vitamin D spray. It’s just easy to use and carry around!
The Vitamin D is available on my website now. Click here to get it: https://bit.ly/2LUIFdP

Vitamin D is essential for our normal immune function and bone health, it is also very important for fertility. Living in the UK, we don't always get enough sunlight to produce sufficient Vitamin D our bodies need. How are we going to get extra Vitamin D then? You can find the answer here: https://bit.ly/3cXlXgo

Vitamin D has a huge impact on fertility. Deficiency of vitamin D has been linked with endometriosis, PCOS and reduced IVF success.

Something that's not talked about enough - Male Fertility. One in seven couples have trouble conceiving. As the word “couple” suggests some of that will be attributed to Male infertility, current research indicates it could be up to 40% to 50%.
In my new blog post, I talk about how to improve male fertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Click here to read:

In my acupuncture clinic in central london I treat lots of people for insomnia, sleep issues and stress which are affecting their fertility. Acupuncture helps the body to rebalance, relax, release stress and quieten the mind (our busy mind is very often the cause of lost sleep!).
Here are two acupoints that I use for sleeping issues. Try massaging each point with your finger for a few minutes while in bed to help you sleep better 😴
You can read more about how to stop insomnia on my blog here >> https://bit.ly/3o96D2k
