In this video, Nav explains how he approaches complex functional rhinoplasty cases where breathing is significantly impaired, but the patient does not want any visible change to their nose.
In this case, the patient was unable to breathe through his left nostril because the septum, which divides the nose, was blocking the left side of the airway. This meant that correcting the issue required more than a standard septoplasty.
Donor cartilage was used to rebuild and reinforce the internal structure of the nose. This provides the strength needed to keep the airway open, while ensuring the nose holds its shape over time and does not collapse.
The key challenge was preserving the external appearance. The patient did not want any aesthetic change, so the focus was entirely on restoring function while keeping the nose looking the same.
When structural support is compromised, simply straightening the septum is often not enough. Rebuilding the framework properly is what allows for long-term breathing improvement, without altering the natural look of the nose.
This is where a tailored, proportionate approach matters. The goal is not just to help you breathe better, but to do so in a way that feels completely in keeping with your face.
