Patient Rosalind is walking for . Here’s why she wants to give back to RNOH.

In December 2008, Rosalind received a devastating myeloma diagnosis. “The cancer had nibbled holes in the right-hand side of my pelvis and produced a large lump in my hip on that side, making it impossible to put any weight on my right foot for fear of causing more damage.” For months, Rosalind had to get around entirely on her left leg, leaning on a walking frame.

Then everything changed. “This one-legged gait continued until the late summer of 2009,” says Rosalind. It was the August bank holiday and RNOH consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Will Aston performed an operation that Rosalind describes as “incredible – and the care that allowed me to walk again”.

Following a period of rehabilitation and intense physio, Rosalind was back on two feet. “For that, I can never thank them enough. I’m taking part in Move in March to say thank you to RNOH for giving me back my freedom!”

What a wonderful result! Rosalind is walking her 100 miles in March and it’s not too late to donate! To hear more from Rosalind and show your support, please head to her page - https://tr.ee/Rosalind

Week 3 of Move in March is nearly at an end. Not long to go! We're finding out what it means to some RNOH staff to be taking part.

Dr Chirag Gorasia is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who helps our youngest patients at RNOH. Not only that, he’s part of the Paediatric Pacers, one of our incredible RNOH staff teams on the Move in March challenge for RNOH Charity 💙 Dr Gorasia says: “It’s been a while since my last physical challenge for charity, but I’m officially back in action! This March, I’m raising money for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart: The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

“As many of you know, I see the incredible work done here every day in my role as a Consultant Paediatric Clinical Psychologist. But my connection goes deeper than that – RNOH has provided, and continues to provide, vital support to people who hold a very special place in my life.

“I’ve teamed up with my colleagues – the Paediatric Pacers – to take on the Move in March challenge. We are moving to provide hope and life-changing care for those battling bone cancer, spinal injuries and other complex orthopaedic conditions.

“I would love your support in reaching my goal. You can make a donation directly through my fundraising page. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a world of difference to our patients and their families. Thank you so much for your support and for being part of this journey with me.”

Thank you, Dr Gorasia, and all of our RNOH colleagues who have risen to this challenge. The funds you raise will do so much good.

To support the team, please head over to the Paediatric Pacers’ page where you can make a donation in honour of their challenge and leave them a message of encouragement: https://tr.ee/Move-in-March-Paediatric-Pacers
