The Groomers Spotlight

The Groomers Spotlight Transparent directory of grooming professionals who have achieved industry recognised qualifications. (see website for T's and C's).

The Groomers Spotlight aims to highlight individual dog groomers that have achieved the full professional level 3 City and Guilds Diploma, The OCN West Midlands Grooming Qualification and The IPG Qualification. According to our survey, the majority of the public think that pet grooming is regulated and take it for granted that their groomer is fully qualified. This is unfortunately not the case. The Groomers Spotlight will direct you to your nearest Fully Qualified grooming individual and will give you a choice of whom to book in with and where to go for your pets specific needs. It will also give qualified groomers a platform to advertise themselves in a professional way and to add value to their work as they will be reachable wherever they work as long as they keep their profile up to date. Each spotlight member will have an individual membership number and profile page where they can tell you all about their strengths and achievements. It ticks so many boxes and we think it will help professionalise the industry and give kudos to those that have worked so hard to gain their full professional qualification.

Spring Dangers Series: Ticks🪳

As the weather warms up, ticks become more common and can carry diseases that affect both dogs and humans.

🌳After walks - especially in parks, woodland, or the countryside - be sure to check your dog carefully. Run your hands over their coat and feel for any small lumps, as ticks attach to the skin and grow as they feed. Finding them early is key!

Prevention:
• Check your dog after walks
• Use vet-recommended treatments

Groomers can often spot ticks early during appointments, so regular grooming and checks play an important role in keeping your dog safe 🐶💛

🐣 Spring Dangers Series: Easter Foods

Last week: lungworm
This week: Easter foods

🍞 Hot Cross Buns & Simnel Cake
Contain toxic dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, currants) which can cause serious kidney damage - even in small amounts. Keep well out of reach.

🍫 Chocolate Easter Eggs
Contain theobromine, which affects the heart and nervous system. Dark chocolate is the most dangerous, but all types should be avoided.

🍗 Easter Roast Dinner
Too rich, fatty and salty. Can cause stomach upset or pancreatitis - stick to their normal diet.

If your dog eats something they shouldn’t, call your vet immediately. Don’t wait for symptoms and never try to make them sick.

📋 What to tell your vet
What they ate, how much, when, and any symptoms.

Keep your pets safe this Easter 🐶🌼

Stay tuned for next week’s spring danger!

Not dramatic, just prehistoric preparation. 💩

The spin, the pause, the moment of focus…
Not random - just instinct doing what it’s always done.

Thousands of years later, and they’re still out here finding the perfect spot! 🐶

This is something the grooming industry doesn’t talk about enough 👇

Catching the quick can happen - even with experienced, qualified groomers!

It’s not about perfection, it’s about understanding, handling it correctly, and educating owners along the way.

We’ve explained everything you need to know in our latest blog.

From smarter bookings to learning support, AI definitely has its benefits - but here’s the truth…

AI can’t handle a nervous dog.
It can’t feel a coat.
And it definitely can’t replace a qualified groomer.

Use it as a tool, not a shortcut.

This is something we spoke about in our weekly newsletter. If you’d like to learn more and stay in the loop with topics and trends like this, you can sign up via our website 🤍

Don’t forget that the clocks go forward this Sunday ⏰

Your pup feels the change - help them ease into it

A little prep now keeps your dog relaxed, in sync, and ready for those longer, brighter days ☀️

That “biscuit” smell on your dog’s paws? 🐾

It’s caused by natural bacteria that thrive in warm paw pads - totally normal and usually nothing to worry about.

(Still weirdly nice though… right?)
