This weekend we welcome new students onto both the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and the BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Clinical Sports & Remedial Massage, with January intakes now fully underway.

Our BTEC Level 5 Bridging Programme also commenced earlier this month, reflecting sustained demand for advanced, clinically focused sports massage training and clear progression pathways within the profession.

It’s always rewarding to see therapists at different stages of their careers take this next step, from those entering sports massage for the first time, to experienced practitioners developing higher-level clinical skills.

For anyone who missed the January start, additional intakes are scheduled later in the year. Places are limited, and interest is consistently high.

Our sports massage programmes are recognised for:

ITEC and BTEC accredited qualifications

Strong clinical and remedial focus

Expert-led, hands-on training

Structured progression from Level 3 through to Level 5

If you’re planning your professional development for the year ahead, now is a good time to review upcoming dates and secure a place.

09/01/2026

Over the years, through close relationships with some of London’s leading spas, including The Connaught and Brown’s Hotel, and our work with the UK Spa Association, we’ve had many honest conversations with spa managers about recruitment challenges.

One issue comes up again and again: new therapists often arrive with insufficient massage skills for today’s spa environment.

This isn’t about individual therapists. It’s a structural problem.

Most beauty therapy qualifications understandably prioritise facials, skincare and aesthetics. Massage is often treated as just one unit among many, rather than the core professional skill guests expect when they book a spa treatment.

The result?

- Gaps in clinical understanding and contraindications
- Poor posture and biomechanics leading to early injury
- Massage techniques that don’t meet luxury spa standards

As Marc Innes, our Principal, puts it:

“We’ve had to retrain many spa therapists over the years. The demand for better-trained therapists who can deliver genuine, high-quality massage has been growing steadily. That’s exactly why we developed this course.”

So we took a different approach.

Our Level 3 Awarded Spa Therapy Diploma is built on a simple principle: massage comes first.

Students begin with in-depth holistic massage training (ITEC regulated and internationally recognised), with a strong emphasis on technique, posture, injury prevention and deep tissue work BEFORE moving on to spa-specific treatments.

We’ve also designed the course to be efficient and realistic. There’s no unnecessary repetition, and no padding. Anatomy, physiology and pathology are fully covered within the massage training, allowing the facial component to focus on safe, professional delivery, while recognising that brand-specific training happens in-spa.

Just as importantly, we prepare students for trade testing - the real-world assessment that often determines whether someone is hired or not.

This diploma exists to bridge the gap between qualification and expectation, and to give spa managers therapists they can trust from day one.

If you’re serious about a long-term career in spa therapy, and want training that the industry genuinely respects, we’d love to talk!

2025 Wrapped: A year to be proud of at The School of Natural Therapies

As 2025 comes to a close, we are taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year for The School of Natural Therapies. Celebrating 36 years of holistic education, this year has been about growth, expansion, and raising standards across the massage and wellness industry.

This year we:

• Moved into our beautiful new home in Battersea, creating more space and better learning environments

• Continued developing our redesigned website to make our accredited, government-regulated courses easier to explore

• Launched our Spa School, addressing the industry skills gap with a “massage-first” approach

• Celebrated outstanding student results, with 75% Distinctions in our Diploma in Massage

• Saw graduates transition into elite sport, clinical practice, luxury spas, and NHS hospital settings

• Expanded specialist training to Peterborough and introduced new Myofascial Release courses

• Continued delivering bespoke training for leading luxury spas and hotels

At its heart, 2025 has been about one thing: empowering therapists. Whether in NHS hospitals, five-star spas, or our Battersea classrooms, we are proud to support therapists with the clinical knowledge, confidence, and compassionate touch to truly change lives.

You can think of SNT as a bridge, connecting luxury wellness with rigorous clinical expertise. This year, we strengthened that bridge more than ever.

Pregnancy massage is about so much more than relaxation, it supports changing bodies, eases aches, and offers calm during a major life transition. To do this safely, therapists need specialist training, clear positioning skills, and an understanding of pregnancy specific anatomy and physiology.

At the School of Natural Therapies, our Pregnancy & Postnatal Massage CPD Course teaches you how to work safely and confidently with pregnant and postnatal clients, from consultation and contraindications to positioning, draping, and hands on techniques.

For therapists who want to go further, the Advanced Pregnancy & Postnatal Massage CPD Course builds on these skills with deeper clinical reasoning and fascial work for more complex presentations.
