A coach acts as a catalyst helping you to get from where you are now to where you want to be more easily and quicker than if you were to do it alone. Coaching is the relationship between us, the support, activities and discussions. It is not counselling or therapy, although many people find it very freeing and of course it is entirely confidential. Coaches use a varied toolkit of knowledge, experience and methods to help you achieve your goal. “ I know I’m stressed… but I don’t even know where to start.”

I hear you.

Last week I shared that coaching can help reduce stress, and the most common question I got was “But how would you actually help me?”

The honest answer?
It depends on you, but generally I take a simple 3-step approach:

👉 1. Calm the noise (fast)
We start with practical tools to help you feel better quickly, things like breathing techniques, mindfulness, hydration, and small resets you can use anytime.

👉 2. Get to the root
Together, we uncover what’s really driving the stress and find ways to reduce it, not just manage it. Whether that’s overwhelm, a health challenge / menopause, or a conversation you’ve been avoiding.

👉 3. Create lasting change
We build strategies so you can spot the early signs, protect your wellbeing, and make changes that actually stick because it’s not just about feeling better for a moment… it’s about feeling more in control, more balanced, and more confidently like you again.

I offer this as a 1:1 programme or in small, supportive groups and also deliver coaching-based stress workshops for teams.

April is Stress Awareness Month and I just wanted to reach out and say this is a reminder that you're not alone if you're feeling stressed. Whether it's work, money, family, the pace of life or health, stress touches us all.

The Stress Management Society reports that stress is reaching record levels with 1 in 4 workers feeling unable to cope with stress at work with stress, depression and anxiety contributing to significant lost productivity and days off.

And that doesn't even touch on the stress we can feel away from the workplace!

Isn’t this beautiful?

It’s part of a local walk I did with a friend at the weekend. She'd offered to show me one of her favourite routes ages ago.

It was wonderful to finally fix a date, experience the variety of terrain and amazing views… and simply walk along chatting and enjoying it all while she guided me. She pointed out alternative routes, shared little insights I’d never have known, and even showed me the spot where she stops with her family for hot chocolate.

Now bear with me, it got me thinking…Wouldn’t it be great if the path to our goals felt this nice?
Still having to put the work in but less second-guessing, less doubling back, less wondering 'am I going the right way?'

I genuinely believe that the right route is there for everyone, you just have to find it!

When you’re on your own, it can feel uncertain or harder than it needs to be but working with a coach helps you see more clearly, explore options, and move forward with more confidence and ease.
You still walk it but you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

A few coaching questions to reflect on:

Do you want to feel better but are struggling to make the changes required?

I recently had the honour of being asked to write a guest blog on this topic for Nurturing Nutrition with Jane Barrett and it went live - yay!

Struggling with your wellbeing, goals or consistency doesn’t always look the same for everyone. For some, it’s not knowing what to do. For others, it’s knowing what to do but not following through. Thats what I helped a group of Tropic Ambassadors do this weekend.

I ran a workshop to discuss what confidence means to them, the psychology of confidence and then 10 top tips to help them 'Glow Beyond Their Comfort Zone'.

❤️ The safety and energy in the room was fabulous, leading to some great questions and discussions.

I'm going to be honest with you, things are harder than usual in our house at the moment. My daughter is unwell, but wanting to do as much as possible, all while normal life carries on.

The emotions sit in my chest and I've felt them creeping up to really affect me - distraction, overwhelm, tiredness, etc.

Over the years I've learned that functioning through difficult times isn't about pushing harder, it's about working with my body and mind.

To help myself I've been doing things I know help regulate my nervous system.

These are my top 5 tips:
✨ Slowing my breathing - preferably with exhale longer than inhale.
✨ Short walks - movement without pressure.
✨ Limiting doom-scrolling - I don't need extra stimulation.
✨ Shrinking my to-do list - only doing what matters.
✨ Journaling - acknowledging my feelings.

What advice would you give your younger self at the start of your career?

I had the privilege of attending a client’s belated International Women’s Day event yesterday, where this powerful question was asked of a brilliant female panel.

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and discuss how coaching can be a game-changer. Specifically, how it helps people achieve success while maintaining balance and fulfillment. The roundtable discussions that followed were full of great questions and insights!

Winning at life 🏆

After a busy & quite hard week, it's wonderful to start the day with a load of washing in the machine and a cuppa in the sun 🌞

Choices...

My daughter had an appointment earlier this week and I had a choice:

a) sit in the local cafe with a pot of tea, slice of cake and my laptop,
b) go for a walk.

Which would you choose?

There isn't a right or wrong answer.

Since it was dry, I knew a walk along the river & I felt the need to calm my nervous system I chose the walk.

On other days I would choose the cafe - maybe on a day with a looming deadline or when I'm feeling 'in flow' with work.
