North London Hospice is a registered charity that has been caring for local people since 1984. We help those with a potentially life-limiting illness who have specialist needs. It’s exactly 1 month until Christmas! 🎄🎅 Don’t fir-get to register your tree for collection in January!

We’ve teamed up with Just Helping once again to offer Christmas tree collections and recycling in selected postcodes across North London.

Happy ! This week, we want to share the incredible achievements of six individuals (dubbed Six Irons), who earlier this year took on the ultimate challenge - the Hamburg Ironman, to raise money for the hospice.

A year ago, none of them had ever raced a triathlon, let alone an Ironman, which consists of swimming 3.8km, cycling 180km and running a marathon all in one go.

However, Emily, Hannah, Samy and brothers Sam, Jake and Mickey, all took to training seven days a week, sometimes in extreme icy weather, to prepare for the challenge and raise vital funds for the hospice who cared for Emily’s dad Noel in 2018. “The support they gave our family was extraordinary,” said Emily. “Racing for them made the whole experience meaningful beyond miles.”

Sadly, Mickey was unable to race on the day due to an injury, but the others all managed to complete their ironman, and altogether they have raised an amazing £10,324.53 for the hospice!

“What did we learn?” Emily recalls, “That triathlon is expensive, exhausting, and not for the faint-hearted. But it’s also life changing. We grew stronger, together. We laughed a lot, fell off bikes, cried on curbs, swam into buoys and banks, swore at hills, shared snacks, shared goals. We weren’t the fastest team, we didn’t have the flashiest kit, but we had heart and each other. Would we do it again? Without a doubt.”

A big well done to the Six Irons team and thank you for all your support! 💙

Thank you to the organisers and supporters of Proms at St Jude's, who presented North London Hospice with a cheque for £16,250 from funds raised at their 2025 community arts festival.

The Proms, which takes place annually across two weeks in June and July at St Judes church in Hampstead Garden Suburb, has been running musical performances, literary talks, comedy, and heritage walks since its inception in 1993.

Susie Gregson, Proms CEO said, "We're delighted that Proms at St Jude's has raised this money to support the work of our hospice and the wonderful doctors and nurses who provide so much care in our local community."

At North London Hospice, we are proud to support more than 3,300 patients in their own homes each year, and with the development of our new Rapid Response Service, patients with the most acute need are seen in under two hours.

But our nurses must carry more than compassion, their carefully curated Crisis Rapid Response Kits contain everything they need to ease pain and restore comfort quickly.

Your donation this festive season could help us bring comfort and dignity to someone in their most urgent hour.

Could you be the reason we get there on time?

Dare to dip. Brrrave the chill. Support your local hospice.

We’re calling on the bravest North Londoners to face the freeze on Saturday 28 February 2026 and take on the coolest challenge around – the Cold Water Dip.

Cold water dipping involves briefly immersing your body for 1-5 minutes in cold water; usually around 4 degrees Celsius. Once the secret weapon of athletes for soothing tired muscles, it’s now a popular choice for anyone chasing a burst of energy, a clear head and a boost for body and mind.

When Patrick was referred from hospital to our Inpatient Unit, following a complex gastrointestinal episode, his sisters were braced for a stressful ordeal. At 61, new environments had always been laden with anxiety, and the family were exhausted from a difficult fortnight on a busy ward.

“It was clear that Patrick was slow to develop from a young age, and he soon started missing key milestones like reading and writing,” explained his sister Carmel. “He can’t cope with crowds or noise and can become nervous easily, so familiarity is critical, which isn’t really compatible with a hospital stay.”

That said, once Patrick settled into his private room on our Inpatient Unit, the change was swift. “It was almost miraculous and totally phenomenal to see. From the beginning, every member of staff and volunteer treated him like a human being, reassuring him and caring for him in such a gentle way that he noticeably relaxed,” Carmel relayed.

“They took the time to understand him, filled his room with leprechauns for St Patrick’s Day and explained everything using his teddies. They gained his trust. I am just overwhelmed with the kindness, respect and dignity shown to him. He wouldn’t necessarily know, but we would.”

North London Hospice

We provide specialist end-of-life care, free of charge, to people living in the London boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey both within the Hospice and in their own homes.

It costs over £10 million to run the Hospice for a year. The NHS only funds 40% of this which is why we need your support to help us meet the remaining 60%.
