The first men have been tested in the landmark TRANSFORM trial. The £42m TRANSFORM trial is aiming to find the best tests to screen men for prostate cancer, which is the most common cancer in the UK without a screening programme.

The men will receive a combination of Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood tests, fast MRI scans or genetic spit tests to find the safest and most effective way to detect prostate cancer before it becomes incurable.

A new NHS programme is aiming to increase the number of organs available for transplant by allowing more time for assessment and preservation.

The pilot will introduce specialist centres where donated organs can be maintained using machine perfusion, helping clinicians make more confident decisions about their suitability for transplant.

With transplant waiting lists continuing to grow, this approach could enable hundreds of additional transplants each year and improve outcomes for patients.
