What an amazing weekend! I was in Taupo for the NZ Ironman event on Saturday with an amazing team for both pre and post event massage. I then dashed back up to Auckland to massage the amazing Sarcoma Foundation fundraisers who completed the Round the Bays on Sunday.

I hadn't realised how big an event Round the Bays is! The atmosphere was amazing.

The Sarcoma Foundation NZ is a charity set up to support patients and whānau – families dealing with a diagnosis of sarcoma. This is a rare and complex cancer (malignant tumour) arising from the bone, cartilage or soft tissues such as fat, muscle, connective tissue or blood vessels. I've cared for many patients and lost friends to this so being able to support the event using my massage skills meant a lot to me. So here's what I got up to last weekend! The Ironman World Championships were held in Taupo and I got to work on some amazing (and some very broken!) athletes as a result. As a team of 14 therapists, we did 4 days of pre-event work and 2 days volunteering at the end of the women's race on Saturday (UK Cat Mathews won the overall championship - go girl!) and the men's on Sunday. They were long days in a very hot tent, which is why I look a bit less glamourous than usual. The competitors were an absolute delight to treat and I was very humbled to be complimented on my skills by not one but TWO orthopaedic surgeons who ended up on my table. Maybe I haven't earned the imposter syndrome we sometimes all have!

So thank you to the competitors for allowing me to use their photos and for being such lovely people.

So I'm now offering Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) in my clinic. MLD works on your lymphatic system which lies just beneath the skin. Whilst it's been widely used for people who've had breast cancer who've developed lymphoedema, it has many other uses including for reducing swelling following injury, chronic fatigue and lipoedema.

Well done to all of the runners of the Auckland Marathon last Sunday! The head wind going over the bridge was definitely a challenge!
