Before & After 🪦 🧼 🔨
A spectacular result from this recent renovation of a marble full memorial. This included a full dissasembling and refix, full marble cleaning, complete re-cut and re-leading of over 250 characters and two new ceramic photo plaques. A new marble cover slab was also added over the existing chip bed. The result is a memorial which looks as good as the day it was first installed.

How does technology help in an industry which is over 5000 years old?
Our automated sandblasting unit allows for memorial lettering to be carved automatically. Once it has been calibrated, we can leave it to carve the lettering on its own. As well as the sandblasting, it is also dustless which means there is a hoovering unit within the nozzle that allows the sand to be recycled thus not creating any mess to be cleaned up.
The biggest benefit of automated sandblasting technology is that it allows our masons carry out other tasks while letters are being cut, in turn vastly improving efficiency.

Trade names 🪦
Like an artist would sign off a painting, memorial masons have always added their company name to memorial works. What was once a craftsman’s signature is now an important sign of responsibility for its installation, usually a non negotiable requirement by authorities.
The amazing thing with these names being carved into stone is that it allows us to go into older sections of local cemeteries and see memorials our company produced many decades ago. Here we can see two memorials completed by our company in 1942 & 1929 respectively which have stood the test of time.

Constructing a full length memorial in polished Bahama Blue granite with sandblasted & painted gold inscription. Finished with the flag of Jamaica on the front kerb which is a lovely touch.
This will be left to cure overnight under cover before being placed in the cemetery with the lorry over the coming days.

Here we have two of our masons installing a new full memorial with our custom built lorry. Our lorry (which we had made bespoke in 2023) is a game changer for our efficiency. We are now able to complete multiple full memorial installations in one day with ease. It also means we can build memorials under cover in the workshop so the finish is better, and installations are safer for our masons who don’t need to navigate potentially difficult to train in cemeteries!

We had the privilege of designing and then creating this double grave space memorial . This was designed using a single carved angle headstone from the 1920's as inspiration as shown. We used Carrara Italian marble and the client requested a second angle due to the width available. The angels and flower have been carved from one solid block of marble.
