Fortius Clinic is excited to announce that Mr. Pieter D’Hooghe, a world-renowned specialist in sports injuries of the lower leg, has joined our team as a new Senior Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery.

This is fantastic news as Mr. D’Hooghe brings an incredible amount of expertise, particularly in keyhole (arthroscopic) treatment for athletic knee, ankle, and foot injuries, elevating our elite-level and other sports injury treatment even further. Mr. D’Hooghe has served as Chief Medical Officer for major international sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup 2022, and plays a key role in international organisations like ISAKOS.

We are incredibly proud to have Mr. Pieter D’Hooghe join our team and look forward to the exceptional care he will provide for our patients.

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, Fortius Consultant Professor James Calder led groundbreaking experiments in our operating theatres—measuring aerosol production from singing, playing instruments, and exercising. Participants included elite athletes, Royal Opera singers, and musicians from the London Philharmonic. These studies, conducted by Imperial, Bristol, and UCL scientists, helped guide UK and global policy on safely re‑opening sport and culture venues.

Now, that incredible body of work has been recognised with the Faraday Horizon Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry—a prestigious award celebrating innovation in physical chemistry.

Fortius Clinic are delighted to welcome experienced Consultant Rheumatologist Dr Ritu Malaiya!

Dr Malaiya has a speciality in the management of general and inflammatory rheumatological conditions. She has gained vast experience working in specialist units including Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals, St George’s Hospital and King’s College London.

She is also actively involved in research having presented at the Royal Society of Medicine, London as well as contributing in educational programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate training doctors.
