Surgery takes place at the Fortius Surgical Centre in Central London, a dedicated day surgery centre or at the specialist Fortius Joint Replacement Centre in partnership with Bupa.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Lorenzo Garagnani, Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon, has been awarded as Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

This prestigious honour recognises Lorenzo’s extraordinary contributions to healthcare, as well as his pioneering work in developing less invasive surgical techniques, this award celebrates his dedicated service to children born with hand and upper limb differences.

We are proud to congratulate our consultant Ritan Mehta on being awarded an MBE in The King’s New Year Honours List for his contribution to football.

This honour recognises Ritan’s longstanding commitment to elite sport and his role as Team Doctor to the England women’s national team, supporting the Lionesses at the highest level of the game. From a career-threatening injury to a legendary career finale.

15 years ago, Professor James Calder operated on Benjamin Ella, then a scholar at the Royal Ballet School as a result of a career-threatening injury.

Recently, Professor Calder was invited by Ben and his wife Ashley (who is also a Soloist) to witness Ben’s final performance before retirement.

In a landmark study, Fortius Consultant Dr. Richard Weiler has co-authored and helped lead groundbreaking research exploring how professional male footballers perceive purposeful heading and the English FA’s safety guidelines.

By conducting in-depth focus groups with Premier League players, the study identified critical themes regarding how athletes assess the risks of heading, as well as the practical "unknowns" and challenges faced when trying to follow official heading protocols.

Fortius Consultant Mr. Andy Williams was recently an international keynote speaker at The French-Speaking Arthroscopy Society (SFA) and delivered three influential talks based on his 26 years of experience caring for professional athletes; the reality following an ACL rupture in a professional footballer, and an in-depth analysis of the medial collateral ligament's (MCL) anatomy, biomechanics, and surgical relevance.

Furthermore, he participated in a recorded interview detailing the unique challenges encountered in treating elite athletes while also being awarded with Honorary Membership of the SFA for his substantial contributions.

Three Fortius Consultants, Mr. Osama Aweid, Mr. John Dabis and Mr. Chris Wilson, taught at The Basingstoke Knee Osteotomy Masterclass which is the UK's most established knee osteotomy course. Dedicated to promoting the principles of joint preservation surgery.

The three were part of a panel of speakers providing unprecedented exposure to the procedure, including live surgery, lectures, and seminars covering both basic and complex osteotomy techniques and the latest innovations. Helping to develop surgeons looking to introduce knee osteotomy to their practice or those seeking to enhance their advanced surgical skills.
