Do you ever say yes when you really want to say no?
Or avoid difficult conversations… then feel frustrated afterwards?

These are common signs of struggling with interpersonal effectiveness - and you’re not alone.

In DBT, we use a skill called DEAR MAN to help you communicate clearly, set boundaries, and ask for what you need with confidence.

Gentle reminder this Easter/Passover season 💛

Time together can be meaningful—and sometimes overwhelming.

Longer days, disrupted routines, and family dynamics can bring up a lot.

A DBT skill to hold onto: cope ahead.

Take a moment to pause, notice what you might need, and give yourself permission to go at your own pace.

You don’t have to do it all.
You don’t have to do it perfectly.

Sometimes, it’s enough to simply slow down and smell the flowers 🌷

Finding the middle path isn’t about getting it right every time.

It’s about learning to hold two things at once:
👉 This makes sense
👉 And something needs to change

That’s where validation begins.
And that’s what helps emotions settle.

Read more about the power of validation in our new blog. Find the 🔗 in our bio.

Spring is a natural time to reset 🌱

In Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, PLEASE skills help reduce emotional vulnerability by caring for the body:
✔ Treat physical illness
✔ Balanced eating
✔ Avoid mood-altering substances
✔ Balanced sleep
✔ Exercise

When our physical wellbeing is supported, it becomes easier to regulate our emotions.

You don’t need a complete life overhaul.

Start small. Start where you are.

What would your spring reset look like?

In Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, acceptance isn’t passive.

It’s powerful.

When emotions are acknowledged as understandable, shame softens, defences lower, and change becomes possible.

Validation is not agreeing.

It’s communicating: “Your experience makes sense.”
And that’s where change begins.

Many autistic adolescents and adults experience intense emotions or sensory overload. That isn’t a flaw, it’s often a response to environments that can feel overwhelming.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) provides structured, evidence-based skills to support:

• Emotional regulation
• Managing overwhelm
• Distress tolerance
• Clear and confident communication

DBT isn’t about changing who someone is.
It’s about building skills to navigate a world that doesn’t always fit.

Emotional dysregulation can feel overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting.

We’re grateful to .staceydash for speaking openly about the importance of seeking support.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) helps people build practical skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and create stability.

If you’re struggling, you’re not alone. Effective help exists.

Olympic athletes train their minds as much as their bodies 🧠🏅

Behind every performance under pressure are skills that look very familiar in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

Distress tolerance.
Emotion regulation.
Mindfulness.
Interpersonal effectiveness.

These are not elite skills. They are life skills.

You don’t need to be an Olympian to benefit from DBT skills.

Pressure, strong emotions, and setbacks are part of being human. What matters is how we respond.

Growing closer isn’t about being perfect
It’s about staying present 💚

Mindfulness in relationships means noticing each other, saying what’s happening, and choosing to stay engaged — even when emotions are strong.

Small moments of awareness can build deeper connection.
