🎙️ Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes in ASiT?

To celebrate 50 years of the Association of Surgeons in Training, ASiT teamed up with Medical Memoirs for “ASiT 50 Voices” — conversations with Exec and Council reflecting on the conference, the association, and advice to our younger selves.

Go behind the scenes to see all the work our council and exec put in, from organising the conference, to advocating nationally, planning education, and producing the statements, articles, and projects that shape training.

This hands-on pre-conference course provides structured training in essential emergency surgical procedures, with a focus on care and urgent operative interventions. The programme is designed to support trainees developing confidence in time-critical decision-making and core emergency surgery techniques relevant for higher training.

The day includes practical stations covering trauma assessment and operative approaches to major emergency scenarios, including chest trauma and laparotomy-based procedures.

✨ We are delighted to announce the winners of the ASiT x RCS England Foundation Prize 2025.

This year’s essay question asked:
"Is the UK Foundation Programme adequately preparing surgeons of the future?"

🤯 We received a record breaking number of submissions, and the quality of entries made the competition exceptionally competitive. Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter.

We are also very grateful to for supporting the prize and helping us recognise and promote in surgical training and education.

👏 Congratulations again to our three winners (scroll to see!). We look forward to sharing more opportunities soon, including the return of the Foundation Essay Prize next year!
