Katsura Isobe Somatic Therapies

Katsura Isobe Somatic Therapies Somatic Therapies: Somatic Movement, Craniosacral Therapy and Pilates in N1 Kings Cross & E17 Walthamstow, London UK My name is Katsura Isobe.

I am a Somatic Movement educator & therapist, Craniosacral therapist and Pilates teacher based in Islington, London. While we all love to live our lives to the full, sometimes we notice knots and pains physically and/or emotionally that stop us doing so. How can we untangle the knots, release the pains and regain the flow? Our bodies are intimately united with the mind, emotions and spirit. How do

we feel good about ourselves as integrated whole persons? Create time and space for yourself to breathe, feel and heal. I would be grateful to facilitate the journey you are going on.

Authentic Movement workshop in Aylsham, Norfolk

While Melanie .willsher.9 continues to offer monthly workshop in Aylsham, this will be rather rare opportunity to experience the co-teaching between her and me. We have been teaching together for three years now. I imagine for the participants, it is so rich and special experience to have two witnesses all the time!

Join us for the transformative movement practice. There is a small group of regular participants who are so warm and supportive. You are welcome to join!

Craniosacral Therapy Association UK post-grad CPD course ‘Cultivation Embodied Awareness with Authentic Movement’

I am excited about this teaching opportunity in October! At the moment, the one-day course is open only to the CSTA members but it may open to the public later if there are spaces left.

https://mailchi.mp/59d25569443e/cultivating-embodied-awareness-with-authentic-movement?e=9cbf4ee9c3

To me, it is interesting to read my description of this course from more than half a year ago. It appears somewhat fragmented due to the combination of the content summary and the title, which I changed at the last minute. Nonetheless, I am reminded of how I am fascinated by Authentic Movement and developmental movement. I am also fascinated by how these two closely relate to our awareness of Earth - this is what my workshop this weekend is about! It’s not too late to book your spot. https://katsuraisobe.net/workshops/developmental-movement/

I feel this is the beginning of my next long journey. I am full of fascination!

According to the positional relationship between the Sun and the Earth, the seasons cycle from winter, spring, summer, autumn, then back to winter. Each season has its unique sunlight, temperature and energy. Flora and fauna undergo their life cycles in response to the seasons. We also appreciate the seasonal cycles with our clothes, food, and activities. The natural cycles continue year after year.

In human and animal movement, we also have a cycle: yield, push, reach, grasp, pull, then back to yield. This cycle was developed from the time we were little, starting in the mother’s womb and continuing into the first year of life. Our physical and psychological needs stimulate each state - what is nourishing at this point? For example, a cup of tea and a blanket (yielding)? Doing exercises (pushing)? Making a new friend (reaching)? Receiving reward and praise (grasping)? Or returning home with nice food (pulling)? When we shift among these different states in cycles, we feel satisfaction. But you may notice your familiar and unfamiliar states. As adults, we can still learn to embody the unfamiliar parts of the cycles if we are willing, towards the wholeness of ourselves.

In this ecosomatic movement workshop, we explore the qualities inherent in our physical and psychological states, drawing on the natural cycles of the Earth.

This is a new workshop I offer, developed from my interest in developmental movement patterns in infants and animals, as well as my desire to be connected with nature. The workshop will be facilitated with space for each of us to be seen and heard. I am looking forward to encountering all that emerges in the group.

If you are called, please come join us.

Ecosomatic workshop
Body Cycles of Us and Earth: yield, push, reach, grasp, and pull

In the Northern Hemisphere, we have just passed the Summer Solstice, which marks the longest day and the highest point of energy of the year. We have surely been experiencing the sunny days and heat. I hope you are well.

According to the positional relationship between the Sun and the Earth, the seasons cycle from winter, spring, summer, autumn, then back to winter. One of my professional accreditations is Registered Master Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA.

My workshop, “Body Cycles of Us and Earth: Yield, Push, Reach, Grasp, and Pull,” has been invited to present at their conference in Spain in September. This will be my ‘reaching’ moment, and I am excited!

I was surprised to see myself featured in the June newsletter. It is just a biography, but if you are interested, here is the link.

I am offering the same workshop in London in July. If you are called, please DM me for the details.

Somatic Movement Workshop
Body Cycles of Us and Earth: Yield, Push, Reach, Grasp and Pull

This experiential movement workshop explores developmental movement patterns as a means of connecting with the Earth’s daily and seasonal cycles.

An infant develops their movement according to what they need as nourishment – connection to themselves, others, and the world. Their movements reflect the psychological relationship between themselves and others, as well as a physical relationship with gravity, which develops into a cycle of yielding, pushing, reaching, grasping, pulling, and then returning to yielding.

On Earth, cycles are the most natural rhythms, for example, the sun, the moon, and the seasons.

By referencing these cycles, each of us will explore the distinct qualities of each phase for ourselves and for the Earth. The open-ended explanation may raise more questions or deepen our understanding of ourselves and Earth.

Thank you to each of the six movers who attended our Authentic Movement workshop in Aylsham! Melanie .willsher.9 and I were delighted to welcome familiar and new faces. I am so touched by the deep concentration each mover held and the power of this practice. Such a privilege to experience each person in this way, with some kind of intimacy even with those I met for the first time.

Our next workshops are
THURSDAYS 2-5pm:
15TH MAY with Melanie
5TH JUNE with Melanie and Katsura

Katsura Isobe

My fascination with the body, movement and its expression has been originally cultivated in dance, where I have trained, studied and worked professionally for nearly three decades. As I gained more insights, my curiosity kept growing beyond dance and expanded into anatomical & physiological, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of us humans. This journey took me to study and practice in Pilates, Somatic Movement Practice and Craniosacral Therapy.
