It’s a …… boy!!!! 💛💛💛💛 We are beyond in love with our precious little Luca. He hung around until 42 weeks as he wanted a cool birthday: 22.10.22 🤣 Birthing was the most intense, raw and euphoric 76 hour experience of my life so far 🙏🏽 ...
It wasn’t the birth I’d envisaged as Luca chose to be in a ‘back to back’ position to come out (meaning the biggest part of his head first and labour progressed slowly and painfully!). However, Eastern and Western medicine beautifully intertwined to get this little one out safely. Lots of stitches, a blood transfusion and a million cuddles later I’m well on the mend and grateful for the transformative experience I’ve been given. And Luca is doing perfectly ...
One reason I have no doubt that I’m already looking back at my birth experience with proudness and positivity is because I had an amazing doula holding us through every moment. She advocated for me when I was at my most vulnerable, cared for Sam and I throughout the 3 days of labour when we were exhausted, she got our feeding journey off to a good start and gave me endless massages and positive words of affirmation throughout to make me know I could do it!! Women coming together to support each other is just the most magical thing 😍

I grew a watermelon! 🍉 How amazing is the human body to turn something microscopic 🐠🥚into a fully formed human in 9 months?! ...
A lot of pregnancy I haven’t felt myself. I’m used to being very active, socialising, lots of energy but for 9 months I’ve lacked all of this 🤢😴. From multiple throw ups a day to not being able to not being able to sleep for more than an hour at a time I really haven’t loved it all ...
Yet despite all this, medically I’ve had a very straight forward pregnancy without any complications or worries and I’m so grateful for that. Also I’ve felt very calm about the process so far, and for the birthing experience ahead which I’m very excited for. Largely due to my amazing doula , the learnings from ‘s course and the midwives at Chelsea & Westminster are so calming and warm👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 oh and finally reading ‘Expecting Better’ book - amazing and makes you worry a lot less about what you eat/drink/do (at least it did for me!) ...
Hoping for a few more days at least so that we can get some more of our home ready before the big day(s) but the baby will come when the baby is ready!

Full Term 🎉 💛 Embracing what could be a final day, week or maybe a month of just us two, and trusting my body that the baby will come when the baby is ready! Due dates are just a guide and only 4% of babies are born on their due date and 30% in their due week. I prefer the French philosophy of giving you a ‘’due month’’, makes a lot more sense 🇫🇷

Self massage routine 🖐🏽 which I’ve been doing twice daily for the past month. Never realised how much I’d love doing self massage, and my routine only takes 6 minutes a day!.
This type of massage is lymphatic drainage - moving the toxins which get stuck in the lymphatic system and helping the body get rid of them basically. I get it done by my osteopath once a week and then have a self massage routine I’ve gotta do alongside it to get it to work! ...
I’ve slept sooooo badly my whole pregnancy so far - waking up 10-20 times a night so I’ve rarely been getting into the deep sleep state where the body gets it’s deeper repairing done. Being very sick for my first 20 weeks definitely didn’t help! 🤢 ...
Now I’m committing to get my body into the best state before the baby arrives and doing lots of things to get me there being one of them. Alongside twice daily , , vagus nerve stimulation, focussing on eating the things my body needs and getting more sleep in (probs the most important one when you’re growing a human!!) 💜

Mama is growing ! 😋 Embracing some final moments away before getting back to London, back to work and kick starting our renovation to create our first family home in South West London 🏠 (which is very much a flat not a house but there is no flat emoji!) In all of this change and in opening these new chapters of life, I’m remembering to breathe 🫁. Coming back to the lesson of one of my favourite meditation teachers, Thich Nhat Hanh, all you need to do is focus on your breath. Noticing your breath as you breath in and out. Nothing more complex is needed than this. It’s free. You can do it anywhere. When we focus on our breath it automatically relaxes us and takes us into our parasympathetic mode (rest and digest) and away from our sympathetic (fight or flight. 🧘🏽‍♀️

As I’m settling into the second trimester of pregnancy (and thankfully the sickness has 80% disappeared) I’m becoming ever more in awe of the female body. It knows exactly what to do to grow this little human, and it knows exactly what it needs too. The more I tune into its signals, the more I’m noticing what I need to do to support it too. Over the next 3 weeks my baby will grow to twice it’s size - 22cm! So it makes sense that I’m needing more sleep, tonnes of water and lots of nutritious food (although you actually don’t need to eat any more calories until the 3rd trimester - DAMN!!). Also recognising that my hormones are changing rapidly too - by the end of pregnancy you have the equivalent levels of progesterone and oestrogen in the body as taking 100 contraceptive pills a day which seems conkers bonkers. So I’m committed to daily journalling to support my mind, guided meditations, my asana practice and plenty of deep breathing ...
Oh and re: weird cravings, right now nothing super strange but lots of lemony and limey stuff 🍋 ...

I always talk in my yoga classes about how important it is to listen to your body, yet I’m guilty of not doing that myself 😝. I knew that coffee ☕️makes me very wired and I’m very sensitive to caffeine in that it can make me feel anxious and I go a bit too fast and weird, but I kept drinking it! At last in early December I chose to quit, and switch my morning coffee slowly over to a decaf. Firstly I switched to a single shot, then decaf incase you’re looking to do the same - I think it’s a good stepping stone! This has been a very good decision for my health and luckily nowadays decaf coffee can be just as tasty and you barely know the difference ! ...
However, I don’t believe coffee is a no-go for everyone. I think it depends on your body type and how you metabolise caffeine. I did do one of those 23 and me tests which came back saying I was ‘highly sensitive’ to caffeine 😝, but you don’t need any fancy test, you can just tune into your body and notice how it feels after drinking it to know what’s the right thing for your bod!

Burnt out. 🥵I spent most of November and December feeling absolutely exhausted. My brain was foggy, I was waking up numerous times in the night, my body was achey, I felt like I hadn’t slept even after an 8 hour sleep ...
I wasn’t sick as such, but absolutely knackered, and my body was sending signals to me, which, I wasn’t listening to for several weeks so it kept getting worse until I felt really stressed about how nackered I was all the time ...

Thank you to the Christmas period it’s given me some time to recharge. I’ve slept lots (8-9 hours a night plus naps), I’ve largely cut out caffeine, I haven’t exercised aside from lots of walking and yin yoga every day. I’ve spent time with books, films and cooking nutritious meals. Now I’m back to feeling me again. Rest is magic ...
2022 for me is going to be about really looking after myself and caring less about pleasing others. Feeling burnt out totally sucks, please tune in to what you need next year even if it means saying no more or missing the gym. 💜💚💜💚💜💚

5 variations, which would you choose?! 🧘🏻‍♀️ ...

Forward folds are so good for our bodies and I just love the feeling of hanging upside down 😂 ...
And why does the science say that getting our bums in the air is so good for us? Well….

⭐️ Getting your head below your heart relaxes the nervous system ...
⭐️ You build flexibility into the backs of the legs ...
⭐️ You stretch the entire backside of the body: from the head to the heels ...
⭐️ Sore neck? Me too! Forward folds are great for releasing it ...
⭐️ Folds increase circulation to your pelvic organs ...
⭐️ Fold calm the mind. Ideal for a Sunday right?! ...
I’m definitely a no2 - love getting that shoulder opening at the same time. Which is your fave? 💜🧡 ...
