My silly lil behaviour change tip.

Put on the damn aspirational leggings.

Even if the version of yourself that does the thing feels far away right now.

That doesn't mean you can't do things RIGHT NOW that access that version of yourself.

It doesn't mean you can't move towards that person right now.

I restarted running last week after my back injury. And because I recently moved, I'm rebuilding my running routine from scratch.

This is a small step you can take that helps make the decision easier later

✨I put my leggings on at 3pm
✨I had my trackies over them bc I still wanted to be comfortable.
✨I went for my run at 8.30pm after some time negotiating with myself and ultimately winning
✨ The fact that I could get up and go made this run happen
✨ I'm telling you right now there's absolutely no way I would have gone if I wasn't pre-dressed.

Change is hard. Doing something ahead of time helps nudge your future self towards the choice you want to make by making it easier.

It's also just a kind thing to do for

And of course, the aspirational leggings are a placeholder for anything you want to achieve.

So whatever you are trying to achieve, go out on your metaphorical leggings.

I've said this too. Many times. For years. I was wrong. In my approach, in my understanding, in my assumptions. So I learned, grew, and changed my mind.

I keep lots of things I learn to myself. It feels messy and scary and vulnerable to learn out loud. So I learn quietly.

Lately I've been seeing these comments, finding myself criticising the approach, without actually offering a constructive alternative.

Hoarding information feels safer than sharing. Especially when I start to develop different opinions to my mutuals in the field. I'm trying to change that.

I can't get to a deeper level of understanding without making mistakes or being wrong. And I can't get frustrated with commonplace attitudes in the fitness industry if I'm not willing to offer a different perspective.

So here goes. Starting with more low stakes stuff that I don't think many ppl will disagree with. Will I ever get the courage to build up to the spicier stuff? F**k knows but ya gotta start somewhere 😂

Part 2&3: Tassie & the gold coast.
Family, friends, activities, shenanigans.

And a deep sense of gratitude that I've taken good enough care of my body that it's allowing me to live the life I wanna live. It's also nice to see it doesn't have to be perfect.

There were a few things we wanted to do where we got asked "are you fit?" because some things require base strength and endurance to be able to do safely. it was nice to answer YES without thinking about it.

Sometimes I'm really not motivated to exercise but this trip had me feeling so grateful for all those times I went anyway even when I didn't feel like it in the moment.

I don't wanna be excluded from my own life. As someone who craves a certain level of whimsy, maturing is realising some fun requires a certain level of fitness. A lot of people talk about the independence that being strong gives you. And YES, this. But independence isn't some thing that's only relevant when you're over 65 and want to get off the couch without assistance.

There is cool s**t that you can do right now in your 20s and 30s that will slip from your ability without a certain level of fitness. Being young isn't always enough. And as someone who's getting older it's wild to see how participation or lack of participation in physical activity compounds over time in both directions.

I wanna go indoor skydiving, mountain biking, jet skiing, hiking, bouldering, and play on the beach obstacle courses without having to worry that I won't have the upper body strength to get myself back onto the obstacle course if I fall in the water or spend so much time dying on mountain bikes or hikes that I won't actually enjoy them. I'm grateful I get to be a fun aunty that can still play with the younger ones

I'm also grateful I'm not as a**l about fitness anymore and can actually enjoy a better life balance without getting anxious about eating out or that I've not gone to the gym and have chosen to move my body in other ways. Post diet culture freedom is top tier.

✨ Having a blat round the city, checking out graph & the markers

Summer '25 owes me nothing
⛰️climbed mountains
💒 & big Scottish wedding
🥊Got the call-up to represent England
📈 Experienced a GB training camp & met some incredible athletes
🥇 2nd Gold medal at Haringey boxcup
🏡 Bought a house
🕺🏽 Learned lots of fun dances
🧚🏽‍♀️ The most whimsical boxing birthday, with all my friends cosplay'd up to punch me in the face
🏋🏽‍♀️ Lost weight, gained weight, and gained experiences along the way
🎶 Was in my polyjamerous bag: went to hip hop, heavy metal, soca, and house events
🤸🏽‍♀️Training, as always. Sometimes a lot of training, other times very little.
📚 Read lots of books
🥹 Met my nephew for the first time and we went on the London eye
⚖️ won some fights, lost some fights
🌄 soft launched my retirement from boxing but did my medical for the 25-26 szn justttt in case
