Some of our clinics at Moorfields may be impacted during the resident doctors’ industrial action set to take place (7am, Friday 25 July 2025 to 7am, Wednesday 30 July). Your care team will have made contact with you if your appointment is affected. If you don't hear from us, please attend as planned. Unfortunately, there may be delays but we will work hard to minimise any disruption, where possible.

We are so looking forward to this trial, which has potentially significant benefits for our patients, with inclusion at its heart. Co-Principal Investigator (PI) Badrul Hussain says “AI-initiated contact will better serve our patients, who come from many ethnic backgrounds”. Eye to Eye is next week!

Our annual fundraising walk returns for it's 11th year on Sunday 22 June. Choose to walk 1, 5 or 15 miles to give back to Moorfields.

There will be hundreds of people with their friends, family, colleagues and even their pooches as we stride with pride through the streets of London. We even go past the new home of Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology in Camden!

AI could transform how we detect eye disease—but is it being tested well enough?

Research led by Moorfields Eye Hospital and Institute of Ophthalmology reviewed AI devices already approved to help spot eye problems like diabetic retinopathy.

They found inconsistent testing, poor transparency about who’s included in the data, and few real-world trials.

AI has the power to reduce preventable blindness—but only if it works for everyone. The study calls for higher standards, more inclusive data, and real-world testing.
